Sauna pride: extra-large cold plunge bath and Showa-era retro sauna

Kagoshima Kirishima City

Sauna 24 Takarano-yu is a men-only sauna facility located in Kokubu, Kirishima. Its name and atmosphere still reflect the fact that it used to operate 24 hours, giving the place a deep Showa-era retro vibe. The sauna room is a dry, strong-style environment heated by a far-infrared stove, reaching about 92°C for a solid heat experience. Noteworthy is the cold plunge bath, which is even larger than the hot tub and is continuously fed by natural well water pouring from a lion-head spout in the center. The water temperature varies with the seasons but is around a mellow 18°C–20°C, providing a very comfortable cooldown.
