Hot SpringONSEN

Hagi Shigetsu Onsen

Hagi Shigetsu Onsen is the hotel's private source, pumped up from 1,500 m underground. This colorless, clear calcium-sodium chloride spring has a salty, slightly bitter taste, and its high salt content helps retain warmth, supporting a body that is less likely to cool down after bathing. Known for its many benefits, including relief for neuralgia, muscle pain, sensitivity to cold, cuts, and chronic skin conditions, it can be enjoyed while feeling the sea breeze at the panoramic observation large bath overlooking the spectacular views of the Sea of Japan and Kikugahama, as well as at the two distinct spectacular open-air baths with Japanese and Western styles.

SaunaSAUNA

01SAUNA

Far-Infrared Sauna

Men'sWomen's

A serious far-infrared sauna heated by Cerastorm, with vertically arranged ceramic heaters shaped like Kit Kats lined up behind a fence. The three-tiered seating provides plenty of space, and in this calm, TV-free setting you can slowly warm your body from the core. Right in front of the stove on the top level, the intense heat feels like being gently roasted, letting you work up a solid sweat.

Cold BathCOLD BATH

01COLD BATH

Cold Bath

Men'sWomen's

A compact cold plunge bath, close to a home bathtub, located next to the far-infrared sauna in the large bath area. The depth is shallow, and you can also adjust the temperature by adding water yourself from the self-service faucet. In summer it offers a gentle cool-down, while in winter it provides a crisp, refreshing chill.

Most of what we surveyed never even made it onto this site. This book is a further cut from what did. Our editor bathed in every onsen and sauna in it, and wrote only what they confirmed on the ground.
