About Yunosuke no Yado Chorakuen

"Yunosuke no Yado Chorakuen" is a long-established ryokan in Tamatsukuri Onsen, Matsue City, Shimane Prefecture. It is famous for Ryugunoyu, the 120-tsubo mixed-gender open-air bath that has been passed down since the inn's founding and is said to be the largest of its kind in Japan. You can luxuriate in 100% free-flowing natural spring water from the inn's own source, with no heating or dilution, enjoying the exquisite water exactly as it comes from the source. While taking in the seasonal beauty of the 10,000-tsubo garden, you can soak in its gently smooth, lotion-like waters, known for their excellent skin-beautifying effects, and experience a deeply soothing and exceptional hot spring bath.

Mixed-Gender Large Open-Air Bath, Ryugunoyu

Built in the first year of the Meiji era, this is Japan's largest mixed-gender open-air bath, spanning 120-tsubo. It uses famed hot spring water flowing from the inn's own source on the premises, with no added water or heating at all, in 100% free-flowing natural spring style. The gentle, smooth water clings softly to the skin like natural lotion. Surrounded by a vast garden and offering an overwhelming sense of openness, you can luxuriate in the hot spring in a dreamlike atmosphere until nearly midnight.

Large Public Bath and Indoor Bath

A large public bath available on a rotating basis for men and women. Like the mixed-gender bath, it is generously filled with fresh natural hot spring water flowing directly from the inn's own source. The bathtubs are also equipped with a waterfall-style bath and a pleasantly stimulating bubble bath, allowing you to gently loosen up your body. While gazing at the lush greenery and atmosphere beyond the windows, you can fully enjoy the hot spring water, known for its excellent skin-beautifying effects.

Most of what we surveyed never even made it onto this site. This book is a further cut from what did. Our editor bathed in every onsen and sauna in it, and wrote only what they confirmed on the ground.
