About Jyosai-kan

"Jyosai-kan" is a historic ryokan in Kochi that has been in operation since 1874. From the observation open-air bath on the top floor, guests can take in sweeping views of the Kagami River, where it is said Sakamoto Ryoma once swam, as well as Kochi Castle town and the surrounding mountains, and enjoy a liberating bathing experience. In 2024, a full-scale Finnish-style sauna with an auto-löyly feature was newly added to the large public bath, blending the charm of this long-established inn with the latest sauna experience. After bathing, guests can unwind with a luxurious moment over yuzu tea at Yubagari Chaya Shiromi Yagura, a bathing lounge with views of illuminated Kochi Castle. Known as an inn favored by the Imperial Family, this is a property distinguished by its refined hospitality.

Observation Open-Air Bath and Observation Large Public Bath

An observation bath located on the 8th floor, the top floor. From the open-air bath, you can look down on the Kagami River associated with Sakamoto Ryoma and the streets of Kochi Castle town, and at night enjoy the beautifully illuminated cityscape. Although the water is not hot spring water, it is clean and comfortable heated bathwater provided under thorough management. In the open-air bath with its wood-inspired design, and in the spacious indoor observation large public baths, Igosso no Yu for men and Hachikin no Yu for women, you can relax and ease away the fatigue of your journey while enjoying the view.

Löyly Sauna

Men'sWomen's

A full-scale Finnish-style sauna renovated in 2024. It features an auto-löyly function that automatically pours water every 30 minutes, surrounding your whole body with a pleasant wave of heat and encouraging efficient sweating. The room is a clean, wood-scented space, and the refreshing mint aroma enhances relaxation. In the quiet that only a top-floor setting can offer, you can calmly turn inward and face yourself. The appeal lies in being able to savor the latest sauna experience in the relaxed atmosphere of a long-established ryokan.

Cold Bath

Men'sWomen's

The cold plunge bath located right next to the sauna is supplied with constantly flowing water, so you can immerse yourself in fresh, clean water at all times. The water temperature is cool but not too cold, making it easy for beginners to enter. It gently wraps around a body heated by the sauna and helps you cool down slowly. Though compact, the tub offers a pleasantly refreshing touch that leads naturally to the open-air bathing area afterward. Combined with open-air cooling under the Kochi sky, it guides you to a blissful state of totonou.
