About Yuzukushi Salon Ichinobo
Yuzukushi Salon Ichinobo is an all-inclusive onsen resort in Sendai, Miyagi Prefecture. Surrounded by the murmur of the Hirose River headwaters, natural onsen water from its own source, a blend of Tsuru-no-Yu and Kame-no-Yu, flows everywhere from the main bathhouse to the open-air baths and the baths in the rooms. The light, clean-feeling water leaves the skin moist, and a lingering warmth stays with you long after you have heated through to the core. Across several open-air baths at different temperatures, you can make your way around a standing bath deep enough to sink in up to your shoulders and a lukewarm bath for long soaks, while a herbal mist sauna, where yomogi (Japanese mugwort) is steamed with natural onsen vapor, moistens the skin with a distinctly Japanese fragrance. The standing bath brings a sense of release, as if your body were gently floating, and from fresh spring greenery to falling snow, you soak as one with the valley in every season. Water fed straight from its own source, never recirculated, quietly unwinds you to the core.
Hirose River Headwaters Open-Air Bath: Yomogi herbal mist sauna
Organic yomogi is infused with natural onsen vapor, and a low-temperature mist slowly envelops the skin. Unlike the sharp heat of a dry sauna, the humid mist reaches deep into the pores, and breathing in the green, gentle scent of yomogi works as an inhalation bath that eases you from within as well. Take your time warming through to the core, and the warmth lingers long after you step out. Fresh-picked yomogi is used in summer and dried yomogi in the other seasons, so the room is filled with the scent of Japanese herbs all year round.
Shizen-buro open-air bath
A quiet open-air bath for long soaks, tucked away at the bottom of a wooden staircase. Lukewarm water from its own source wells up from the bottom of the bath and wraps around you as if caressing your skin. Rather than a restless heat, it warms you slowly from the core, and even the passage of time seems to slow. With the presence of the river felt in the distance, it is an immersive bath where only your own breathing remains.
Maruko-no-Yu main bathhouse
A spacious main bathhouse wrapped in the warmth of wood and set with logs, the starting point for making your way around the baths. Rest your head on the bath pillow and your shoulders naturally let go. The light, chloride-bearing water leaves the skin soft and moist, and the glow stays with you after you get out. A calm, quiet indoor bath for carefully easing into the day and bringing it to a close.
In-room open-air bath
A bath all your own on the terrace of a room with its own open-air bath, fed straight from the source, never recirculated.
