"Hitoyoshi Ryokan" is a hot spring inn in Hitoyoshi City, Kumamoto Prefecture. The building preserves the strong character of early Showa-era sukiya-style design, and the inn has been designated an Important Cultural Property of Japan. Its pride and joy is the large public bath, where you can enjoy a smooth, pleasantly rich hot spring straight from the source in the famous Bijin no Yu. In addition to a unique deep bathtub, a rustic rock-bath-style bathing area, and a quiet open-air bath, there is also a private rental bath for enjoying time in complete privacy. [Large Public Bath] Indoor Bath and Open-Air Bath
This large public bath lets you enjoy a nostalgic rock-bath-style bathing area and a unique indoor bath with deep wooden benches, with men and women alternating use. You can fully enjoy a smooth sodium bicarbonate and chloride spring straight from the source, a beloved Bijin no Yu that leaves the skin feeling moisturized. It is also safe for drinking, allowing you to take in the benefits of the hot spring from the inside as well. An open-air bath is also available, making for a soothing soak in a famous spring while feeling the fresh outdoor air.
[Private Bath] Family Bath
A private family bath that you can use freely without a reservation if it is available. Like the large public bath, you can have this high-quality natural hot spring straight from the source, which leaves the skin silky smooth, all to yourself in a private space without worrying about others. By train and bus
- Hakata Station → Shin-Yatsushiro Station, approx. 1 hour → approx. 40 minutes by highway bus on the B&S Miyazaki line to Hitoyoshi IC
- Kagoshima-Chuo Station → Shin-Yatsushiro Station, approx. 45 minutes → approx. 40 minutes by highway bus on the B&S Miyazaki line to Hitoyoshi IC
