"Ryokan Sanga (Kurokawa Onsen)" is a hot spring ryokan in Oguni Town, Kumamoto Prefecture. Set quietly deep in the forest, a little away from Kurokawa Onsen town, it sits on a vast 3,000-tsubo grounds filled with abundant nature. Its greatest pride is the natural hot spring water that flows directly from two private springs, Yakushi no Yu and Bijin no Yu. While listening to the murmur of the river and the rustling of the trees, guests can fully relax in a variety of baths, including open-air baths and indoor baths, each with its own distinct charm. The guest rooms are calm Japanese-style spaces where you can feel the changing seasons, and some detached rooms even come with their own open-air bath. Hot SpringONSEN
Moyai no Yu
A men-only open-air bath where you can enjoy the slightly bluish, clear water from the second spring, known as Bijin no Yu, directly from the source. Surrounded by the lush forest of the vast 3,000-tsubo grounds, it lets you feel the powerful breath of nature up close. In this wild, nature-rich setting, the only sounds are the rustling leaves and the clear murmur of the river. As you surrender your body to the smooth, comforting water in this quiet space completely removed from the noise of daily life, both body and mind are led into a deep state of relaxation.
Shiki no Yu
A women-only open-air bath built alongside the small stream that flows through the property. This bath also uses the second spring, and its soft, highly moisturizing water gently envelops the skin. With the sound of the clear stream nearby as background music, you can fully enjoy the changing seasons, from fresh spring greenery to autumn foliage. The bath is designed without a washing area by choice, allowing you to immerse yourself purely in the dialogue between quality hot spring water and abundant nature. It offers a luxurious bathing experience.
Yakushi no Yu
A men’s and women’s separate indoor bath with a faint sulfur scent and brownish bath minerals floating in the water. Guests can lavishly enjoy water flowing directly from a mixed spring of the first spring, the ryokan’s origin and a simple sulfur spring, and the second spring. The men’s bath is an austere, powerful rock bath, while the women’s bath is a cypress bath with a warm wooden feel. The rich mineral components, different from those of the open-air baths, slowly soak into the body, and the pleasant warmth lingers long after bathing. In the simple, calm atmosphere unique to a hidden hot spring, it gently loosens chills and fatigue from deep within.
Private Bath
For overnight guests only, three distinct spaces are available: the fragrant cypress bath that retains a rustic atmosphere, the wild stone-cut bath, and the semi-open-air six-shaku tub bath overlooking lush greenery. One of the main attractions is being able to enjoy high-quality water in a private setting without worrying about anyone else’s eyes, on the vast grounds. While feeling the greenery of the trees and the pleasant breeze outside the window, you are promised blissful time to relax body and mind with your loved one without any reservations.
In-room Open-air Bath
Some rooms, including detached rooms, are equipped with their own open-air bath or indoor bath, allowing guests to enjoy bathing in water flowing directly from the source whenever they like, for as long as they like. The private space, where the seasonal scenery outside the window can be enjoyed like a single painting, is luxurious simply by being there. After bathing, you can rest your warm body in the natural breeze and, throughout your stay, experience a profound sense of healing as if you have become one with the changing satoyama scenery.
