"Takumi no Yado Miyama Ouan" is an onsen inn in Takayama, Gifu Prefecture. Its beautiful wooden framework building, made with Hida’s fine timber, is set against borrowed scenery from the Northern Alps. The large public bath was renovated in 2023–2024, and now features a self-löyly sauna and a new sweating space filled with the aroma of tea. You can enjoy a crisp cold plunge bath, a reclining bath, and abundant natural hot spring water. Also appealing are the four charming private baths, which can be used free of charge as often as you like without reservations, as well as the guest rooms with open-air baths fed directly from the source.

Large Public Bath, Naikura no Yu

A large public bath housed in a splendid wooden bathhouse crafted by Hida artisans, where you can luxuriate in the historic Hirayu Onsen. The indoor bath, wrapped in the scent of hinoki, is equipped with a reclining bath, sauna, and cold plunge bath. In the open-air bath, set against borrowed scenery of the majestic Northern Alps that change with the seasons, you can enjoy a liberating soak while feeling the clear air of Okuhida.

Private hot spring baths that can be used free of charge as often as you like whenever they are available, without a reservation. There are four in total: the stone-built open-air baths Takeniwa no Yu and Sekisho no Yu, and the indoor baths Hanagoyomi no Yu and Muso no Yu, both filled with the warmth of wood. With no washing area, these quiet spaces are meant purely for soaking, letting you spend an intimate, luxurious moment with someone special.

A luxurious open-air bath installed privately in the detached guest rooms, reserved exclusively for the room. Fresh hot spring water flows directly from the source and continuously fills the tub, allowing you to soak in high-quality water whenever you like, as often as you like. In the detached rooms renovated in 2025, a foot bath was also added, so you can enjoy an even more extravagant private space surrounded by the great nature of Okuhida.

A quiet sauna adjoining the large public bath. Newly introduced in the 2024 renovation, it offers a pleasant self-löyly session using tea. The room has the warmth of wood, a compact two-tier structure, and no TV, so you can quietly focus on yourself. A large window at the front lets you look out over the indoor bath area, allowing for a slow, deep sweat in comfortable heat.

A cold plunge bath adjoining the indoor bath area of the large public bath. Thanks in part to the cool climate of Okuhida, you can enjoy a sharply chilled, invigorating cold sensation. Though compact and designed for just a few people, it is ideal for quickly cooling down a body heated by the sauna. Right next to it in the open-air area is a fresh-air bathing space equipped with infinity chairs and totonou chairs.
