About Hirayukan
"Yumeguri no Yado Hirayukan" is a hot spring ryokan in Takayama, Gifu Prefecture. It generously pours water from four renowned springs in Hirayu Onsen, the oldest hot spring area in Okuhida, as free-flowing natural spring water. Guests can enjoy a variety of baths with different atmospheres, including a large open-air bath overlooking majestic mountain ridges, a rock bath surrounded by garden plantings, a half-open-air bath under an arbor that can be enjoyed without getting wet even on rainy or snowy days, and an indoor bath in a gassho-style building with striking heavy beams and high ceilings. The baths are rotated between men and women, so guests can experience all of them during their stay. Overnight guests can also use the sister inn's large public bath. From the post-bath lounge lined with manga and massage chairs, to the Japanese-Western buffet featuring local Hida cuisine, and even the nighttime ramen served as a late-night snack, the quiet mountain evening gently deepens.
Hot SpringONSEN
Indoor Bath
An indoor bath in a gassho-style bathhouse built with thick beams and pillars. Looking up, the high ceiling opens broadly overhead, and you can soak in the water in an atmosphere that feels like you have wandered into an old farmhouse in Okuhida. Hot water and lukewarm water are placed side by side, making it easy to choose according to how tired you feel that day. The simple spring water, drawn in as free-flowing water, is gentle and mild, slowly loosening a body chilled by the mountain air from deep within. Because the baths are rotated between men and women, guests can enjoy bathhouses with different atmospheres during their stay.
Large Open-Air Bath
Two open-air baths set in the mountain valley. One is a large tub with a sweeping view straight toward the majestic mountain ridges, and its unobstructed openness makes you breathe out without thinking. The other is a rock bath surrounded by the building and garden plantings, where you can feel the subtle changes of the seasons right beside you as you sink into the rustic tub. The free-flowing water overflows constantly, and you can stay immersed for as long as you like while the mountain air brushes your cheeks. Move from one bath to the other, and even the same water feels completely different depending on the scenery.
Arbor Bath
A half-open-air bath with an arbor-style roof. It has a calm design wrapped in the warmth of wood, and greenery comes straight into view from the tub. Because it has a roof, there is no need to worry about getting wet on rainy or snowy days, so you can soak while breathing the outdoor air without caring about the weather. As you sink in to your shoulders and gaze at the scenery, you may feel as if the boundary between the bath, yourself, and the greenery outside is dissolving away. The free-flowing water is gentle, and even after a long soak it remains easy on the body.

Access
By car
- From Matsumoto IC on the Nagano Expressway, take National Route 158 for about 1 hour 30 minutes.
- From Takayama IC on the Chubu-Jukan Expressway, take National Route 158 for about 50 minutes.
- From Toyama, take National Route 41 to Kamioka, then National Route 471 for about 1 hour 40 minutes.
- From around November to April, snow and icy roads may occur, so prepare winter tires or tire chains.
By train and bus
- Shinjuku Station → JR Chuo Main Line, about 2 hours 30 minutes → Matsumoto Station → direct bus, about 1 hour 30 minutes, to Hirayu Onsen → about 3 minutes on foot.
- Nagoya Station → JR Takayama Main Line limited express, about 2 hours 30 minutes → Takayama Station → Nohi Bus bound for Shin-Hotaka, about 1 hour, to Hirayu Onsen → about 3 minutes on foot.
- There are direct buses from Busta Shinjuku to Hirayu Onsen.
- From Toyama Station, take the Okuhida Toyama Express to Hirayu Onsen → about 3 minutes on foot.
