About JIN6 Sauna
JIN6 Sauna is the sauna attached to Nakao Jinroku Hotel in Karatsu, Saga Prefecture. Its concept is “Yobuko’s Deep World”: sinking into a deep state of totonou (complete, drifting calm) the way a whale dives into the deep sea, in spaces that reflect a Yobuko culture shaped alongside the sea. There are three inventive saunas themed on a whale, a squid and a Karatsu ware kiln, along with a cold plunge made from an old live-fish tank and a glass-walled cold plunge that seems to float in midair. A foot-and-hip bath looks out over the harbor, and a space for cooling off in the open air catches the sea breeze, so you can give yourself fully to the immersive feel of a port town and a deep sense of relaxation.

A new kind of bathing space where your legs and lower back slowly warm as you look out over Yobuko harbor, while your upper body stays in the pleasant sea breeze. Warmth from below and coolness above cross over each other, adding further depth to your rest after the sauna. Wrapped in the calm air of the port town, you can gently bring body and mind back into balance.

Whale Sauna: Voyaging the Deep World
A sauna that feels like diving alongside a whale on its voyage through the deep sea. Inside, the immersion is overwhelming, as if you were in the ocean depths or in the belly of a whale. Effects inspired by a whale’s spout and carefully chosen music fill the room, and body and mind seem to sink slowly toward the deep seabed in a supremely relaxing experience.
Squid Sauna Swaying on the Waves
An inventive sauna themed on Yobuko’s famous squid and built from soft curves. Through its large windows spreads the atmospheric fishing town and harbor of Yobuko. Löyly made with herbs and squid ink carries the scent of the sea, and heart and body drift gently, as if rocked by the waves, for a blissful stretch of time.
Karatsu Ware Kiln Sauna, Fired by the Heat
A sauna of real weight, built from bricks and clay once actually used in kilns for Karatsu ware, a pottery tradition with 400 years of history. It gives a powerful experience of heat, as if you yourself were a vessel being fired in the kiln. Pour Karatsu tea over the stones yourself and the steam circulates rapidly, filling the room with a toasty, mellow aroma and drawing out a deep sweat that satisfies all five senses.

Live-Fish Tank Cold Plunge
A one-of-a-kind cold plunge that reuses, just as it was, a tank once used to keep live squid. The space has two faces at once: the force of the rough waves of the Genkai Sea and the gentleness of calm shallows. After the sauna has heated you to the limit, the cold pulls the body boldly taut as you feel the breath of the port town.
Floating Cold Plunge
A glass-walled cold plunge designed to seem suspended in midair, with a sweeping view of the fishing town of Yobuko. Once you are in the water, a strange sense of floating, as if drifting in the sky, surrounds you, and you can lose yourself in the scenery spread out in front of you. It is a special way to cool down, taking you out of the everyday through both sight and body.
Rest area
On the ground-floor terrace and the second-floor observation deck, you can cool off in the open air, feeling the sea breeze as you look out over Yobuko’s sea and port town. Inside, the Deep Sea Room is a dark, air-conditioned space that expresses the stillness of the deep ocean. Settle onto the gently rocking water beds or the Muatsu mattress beds, and your breathing seems to sink slowly as you are drawn into a deeper relaxation than you have known before.
