Kanagawa Hakone Town, Ashigarashimo District
A Hakone-Yumoto hot spring inn with open-air baths in every room and a tatami-floored public bath for relaxation
"Tsuki no Yado Sara" is a hot spring ryokan in Hakone Town, Ashigarashimo District, Kanagawa Prefecture. This designer inn features a modern Japanese aesthetic inspired by the moon and yosegi marquetry, carried throughout the building. In the 6th-floor public bath, the soft waters of an alkaline simple hot spring and a sodium-potassium chloride spring envelop the skin, accompanied by the murmur of the Sukumogawa River flowing below. It also offers two private baths that can be used as often as you like without a reservation, as well as open-air baths in every guest room. With a mist sauna, a relaxation space for hand massage and aroma treatments, and a rooftop garden overlooking the mountains of Hakone, this is an inn where the stay itself becomes the purpose of the trip.

A Japanese-style public bath with a tatami-floored interior. The softness of the tatami underfoot eases away the tension of travel from the moment you step into the bath area. Both the indoor bath and the open-air bath are filled with water from Hakone-Yumoto, while the alkaline simple hot spring and sodium-potassium chloride spring gently caress the skin and leave warmth deep in the body.

The two private baths, each with a different atmosphere, can be used freely as often as you like without a reservation when available. Once the door is closed, the bath becomes a private space for your group alone, allowing you to enjoy the hot water without worrying about others around you. One features a hot spring bathtub filled with Hakone-Yumoto water, while the other is a bathing tub of heated water with lighting in the ceiling and tub designed to evoke a full moon. Either one can be enjoyed whenever the mood strikes, whether late at night or at daybreak. This freedom from time restrictions is what makes the inn feel especially luxurious.

In the open-air baths available in every guest room, slipping into the tub brings in the sound of the river, the wind, and birdsong, letting you enjoy the hot water entirely on your own, whenever you like, without anyone disturbing you. Some rooms have bathtubs fed by Hakone-Yumoto hot spring water, allowing you to bathe whenever you wish, even late at night or early in the morning. Throughout your stay, your own private water is always there for you.
