About Akiu Grand Hotel
Akiu Grand Hotel is an onsen inn in Taihaku Ward, Sendai, Miyagi Prefecture. It stands just beside the scenic Rairaikyo Gorge and has different main bathhouses in its main building and annex. From the open-air baths, you can take in a close-up view of the striking rock formations below and the beauty of nature through the seasons, enjoying a soothing escape for body and mind. The annex has a sauna where you can sit in the heat, sweat at your own pace, and refresh. After bathing, unwind as you like in the foot bath or reclining bath, while the naturally warm onsen helps ease the fatigue of your travels. The inn also offers amenities such as a soba restaurant serving house-made noodles and a lounge.
Hot SpringONSEN
Date-no-Yu (Natural Onsen)
A spacious main bathhouse in the annex, with an open-air bath and indoor bath where you can feel the changing seasons. Enjoy a soak surrounded by nature, with the sound of Rairaikyo Gorge’s flowing water and birdsong as your soundtrack. The warming chloride spring gently envelops the body, leaving you with a comforting sense of renewal. There is also a foot bath and reclining bath.
Miharu-no-Yu (Natural Onsen)
A main bathhouse in the annex. The small, secluded-feeling open-air bath offers a sense of privacy and warms you through to your core. Stretch out in Rai Rai no Yu, the indoor bath, and let the gentle ripples on the water soothe you as the day’s fatigue begins to fade. Enjoy the pleasures of a fine onsen in peaceful surroundings.
Bonten-no-Yu (Natural Onsen)
An airy main bathhouse in the main building. From the open-air bath, where the dramatic rock formations of Rairaikyo Gorge rise close by, enjoy seasonal scenery from fresh greenery to autumn foliage and snowy landscapes. Take in the power of nature, then unwind in the spacious indoor bath, a hallmark of an onsen inn. The changing view brings a fresh sense of calm with every visit.
Mehime-no-Yu (Natural Onsen)
A main bathhouse in the main building. Its open-air bath looks out over trees and lets you feel the vitality of the surrounding flowers and greenery.
