Main bathhouse
A bathing area that brings together an infinity-edge open-air bath, its water spilling over the seaward rim, and a panoramic main bathhouse lit by large glass windows. The source is Nandan Onsen, known as a therapeutic spring even within the Minami-Awaji Onsen area, and as befits a chloride spring, the warmth stays on your skin long after you leave the water. Sink to your shoulders in the open-air bath and there is nothing in view but sea and sky; below, the graceful Onaruto Bridge stretches out, and now and then the white crests of the whirlpools or a passing ship appear. The only sound is the surf. At dusk, when the strait turns gold, time flows as if the bath itself had been drawn into the view. After bathing, give yourself up to the sea breeze in the reclining area facing the water.
