Large Bath
A bathing area that combines an infinity-style open-air bath, where the water seems to spill away on the sea side, with a bright observation bath framed by large glass windows. It draws from Nandan Onsen in the Minami-Awaji Onsen area, a therapeutic spring, and thanks to its chloride spring water, warmth lingers on the skin long after you leave the bath. When you sink up to your shoulders into the open-air bath, only the sea and sky remain in view, with the elegant span of the Great Naruto Bridge stretching out below and, at times, the white spray of the whirlpools and silhouettes of passing ships appearing in the distance. The only sound is the tide. At dusk, when the strait turns golden, it feels as if the entire bath is being absorbed into the scenery. After bathing, I’d want to unwind in the reclining space overlooking the sea and let the sea breeze carry me away.
