About Kyukamura Ibusuki

Kyukamura Ibusuki is a resort hotel in Ibusuki, Kagoshima Prefecture. It stands by the sea in Kirishima-Kinkowan National Park, and both the rooms and the baths look out over a sweeping panorama of Kinko Bay. The main bathhouse holds natural onsen water fed straight from the source, never recirculated, and the indoor bath is laid with tatami that feels soft underfoot. The open-air bath beyond has an Asian-inspired design, where you gaze at the horizon wrapped in the sound of the surf. Ibusuki’s famous sand-steam bath is an all-weather space with a retractable roof, and only at this inn can you choose a version with loquat leaves. Main bathhouse

In Ibusuki, where hot water keeps welling up along the shore, the main bathhouse is filled with natural onsen water fed straight from the source, never recirculated. The indoor bath is laid with tatami, soft underfoot and hard to slip on even when wet. Sink in up to your shoulders and the warmth typical of a chloride spring stays on your skin, keeping you warm to the core after your bath. The open-air bath beyond has been renovated with an Asian-inspired design, and there you are wrapped in the sound of the surf and the sea breeze as you gaze at the horizon over Kinko Bay. At night the starry sky, and in the morning the light rising from the far shore, ripple on the water, its mood changing again and again through the day.

Private bath

A semi-open-air private bath facing straight out over Kinko Bay. Advance reservations are required, and you can spend quiet time with just your family or someone close. Sink into the tub and sea and sky fill your view, the scene running all the way to the Osumi Peninsula on the far shore like a single painting. Thanks to the airiness of a semi-open-air bath, the heat of the water and the sea breeze trade places pleasantly, so you can soak for a long time without getting light-headed. The washing area has a shower head that produces fine bubbles, so everything is ready for after your bath. Day visitors can use it too, letting you slip a refined moment in between stops on your trip.

Footbath

A footbath fed straight from the source, never recirculated, on the terrace in front of the lobby. Sit down in the breeze off Kinko Bay and let just your feet sink into the water, and the fatigue of walking slowly melts away. At the adjoining café you can get tropical juice, coffee or alcohol, making time to gaze at the sea with a glass in hand. At night the terrace is lit up and, with the sound of the waves as background music, shows a different face from the daytime. It is pleasantly easy, with no need to change, and you can drop by anytime during your stay.
