About Kyukamura Ibusuki

"Kyukamura Ibusuki" is a resort hotel in Ibusuki City, Kagoshima Prefecture. Standing by the sea in Kirishima-Kinkowan National Park, it offers sweeping panoramic views of Kinko Bay from both the guest rooms and the baths. The hot spring public bath is filled with free-flowing natural hot spring water direct from the source. The indoor bath is covered in tatami mats, which feel soft underfoot, and the outdoor bath that follows has an Asian-inspired design where you can soak in the sound of the surf while gazing at the horizon. The Ibusuki specialty sand bath is an all-weather facility with a retractable roof, and you can even choose an exclusive version with loquat leaves added. There is also a private semi-open-air bath with the sea all to yourself, a free-flowing natural hot spring foot bath, a book lounge stocked with books about Kagoshima and travel, and a rooftop terrace for gazing up at the starry sky, letting you spend a whole day immersed in hot water and the sea.

Large public bath

A large public bath filled with free-flowing natural hot spring water in Ibusuki, where hot water keeps bubbling up along the coast. The indoor bath is covered in tatami mats, which are soft underfoot and less slippery when wet. As you sink into the water up to your shoulders, the warmth of the chloride spring lingers on your skin, and your body stays warm from the inside even after you get out. The outdoor bath that follows has been renewed with an Asian-inspired design, and you can soak while taking in the horizon over Kinko Bay, surrounded by the sound of the surf and sea breeze. At night, the starry sky reflects on the water, and in the morning, light rising from across the bay shimmers on the surface, giving the bath a different expression throughout the day.

Private bath

A semi-open-air private bath facing Kinko Bay head-on. Reservations are required in advance, so you can enjoy a quiet time just with family or companions you are comfortable with. As you sink into the tub, the sea and sky spread out before you, and even the Ōsumi Peninsula on the far shore feels like part of one continuous painting. The breezy semi-open-air design lets the warmth of the bath and the sea air exchange pleasantly, so you can stay in the water for a long time without feeling overheated. The washing area is equipped with a shower head that produces fine, rich foam, making it easy to get ready after bathing. It can also be used by day visitors, making it easy to fit a high-quality moment into the gaps of your travel itinerary.

Foot bath

A free-flowing hot spring foot bath on the terrace in front of the lobby. Sit down while feeling the breeze from Kinko Bay, and let only your feet soak in the water to gently unwind from walking fatigue. At the adjoining cafe, you can get tropical juice, coffee, and alcohol, making it easy to enjoy the sea with a drink in hand. At night, the terrace is lit up, showing a different side of the place from daytime with the sound of the waves as background music. Its no-change-of-clothes convenience makes it an easy stop anytime during your stay.

Most of what we surveyed never even made it onto this site. This book is a further cut from what did. Our editor bathed in every onsen and sauna in it, and wrote only what they confirmed on the ground.
