About Kishu Kada Kyukamura

"Kishu Kada Kyukamura" is a hot spring resort hotel in Wakayama City, Wakayama Prefecture. It stands on a hill in Setonaikai National Park, and the naturally flowing Kada Awashima Onsen is a sodium bicarbonate-chloride spring. With its slightly silky feel, the water is known as the "beauty skin bath." Two distinctive large public baths alternate daily between men and women, and if you sink into the open-air infinity bath, the surface of the water and the Kitan Strait seem to melt into one continuous expanse. It also features a dry sauna and cold plunge bath, so after working up a sweat, you can catch your breath in the sea breeze. From the vermilion sea selected as one of the Top 100 Sunsets, to the restaurant and terrace overlooking the Kitan Strait, and even the island silhouettes visible from every room, every part of the stay is connected to the sea.

Hot SpringONSEN

large public bath

The spring is a sodium bicarbonate-chloride hot spring. With its soft texture and slightly silky feel, it is known as the "beauty skin bath," and its warmth lingers gently even after you get out. Two distinctive large public baths alternate daily between men and women, and you can enjoy a bath tour through the indoor bath, the observation open-air bath, and even the rotating event bath. The highlight is the open-air infinity bath, where the water filled to the edge appears to merge seamlessly with the Kitan Strait, quietly erasing the boundary between sky, sea, and yourself. From the island silhouettes of Tomogashima and Awajishima to the crimson sky chosen as one of the Top 100 Sunsets and the stars at night, different scenes throughout the day are reflected on the water’s surface.

silky bath

The bath, containing tiny air bubbles, gently envelops the entire body with a silky feel. Because the tub is set outdoors, you can let yourself relax into the soft stimulation of the bubbles while feeling the sea breeze. Rather than a strong effect, it offers the sensation of gently loosening your body from the surface inward, and before you know it, your breathing naturally deepens. It is a tub that makes you want to pause between onsen rounds and simply gaze quietly at the scenery.

SaunaSAUNA

01SAUNA

sauna

Men'sWomen's

A dry sauna available in both the men’s and women’s large public baths. The dry heat gently envelops the skin, and after sitting for a while, sweat gradually begins to bead from your back. There are no flashy effects here, just a simple room for facing the heat, where it feels natural to drop in between bath rounds, work up a sweat, and return to the baths again. It can also be used during day-use bathing, making it a reliable place to sweat after walking along the Kada coast.

Cold BathCOLD BATH

01COLD BATH

cold plunge bath

Men'sWomen's

A cold plunge bath provided in each bathing area. When you sink into it after your body has been heated to the core in the sauna, the skin on the surface tightens, and only your heartbeat echoes quietly. There is no need to stay in long; once the heat has eased, step out and catch your breath by the open-air edge where the sea breeze reaches you, and the wind from the ocean will slowly draw away the remaining warmth. Cooling down while gazing at the Kitan Strait spread out below leaves a lingering impression unique to this place.

Most of what we surveyed never even made it onto this site. This book is a further cut from what did. Our editor bathed in every onsen and sauna in it, and wrote only what they confirmed on the ground.
