About Kyukamura Fuji

"Kyukamura Fuji" is a resort hotel in Fujinomiya, Shizuoka Prefecture. It stands on the shores of Lake Tanuki in the Fuji-Hakone-Izu National Park, in the Asagiri Highlands, and from the lobby to the guest rooms, the restaurant, and even the hot spring baths, you can face Mount Fuji from just about anywhere inside the building. The natural hot spring, drawn from a self-developed source, is an alkaline simple spring with a silky, smooth texture that gently glides over the skin. The large public bath has huge windows, allowing you to look straight out at the mountain silhouette while soaking in the tub. It also has a sauna, so after working up a sweat, you can quietly rest your body in the clear highland air. There are also dining areas with views of Mount Fuji, a cafe terrace, a shop, and body care services, all of which help support a peaceful stay in the midst of nature.

Hot SpringONSEN

Large Public Bath

A large public bath fed by the hotel’s own hot spring source, which gushes up from deep underground beside the hotel. The spring is an alkaline simple spring with a silky, smooth texture that gently glides over the skin. Because it softly washes away sebum and impurities, it is also called a beautiful-skin hot spring. The colorless, nearly odorless water is understated, which only makes it easier to focus on the scenery right before your eyes. A large window is set in front of the tub, and on clear days with few clouds, you can look straight out at Mount Fuji while soaking up to your shoulders. There is no open-air bath, but the mountain silhouette spreading across the entire window connects naturally to the view outside.

SaunaSAUNA

01SAUNA

Sauna

Men'sWomen's

A sauna attached to the large public bath. The heat penetrates deeper than a soak in the bath alone can reach, drawing out a deep sweat. It is a perfect place to loosen up a body stiff from travel and reset your mood. It is available from the afternoon through the evening, and closes earlier than the large public bath, so it is best to fit it in after arrival or before dinner. After sweating it out, take your time in the spacious bathhouse, steady your breathing, and enjoy the feeling of the heat slowly subsiding.

Most of what we surveyed never even made it onto this site. This book is a further cut from what did. Our editor bathed in every onsen and sauna in it, and wrote only what they confirmed on the ground.
