About Kyukamura Fuji

Kyukamura Fuji is a resort hotel in Fujinomiya, Shizuoka Prefecture. It stands on the shore of Lake Tanuki in Fuji-Hakone-Izu National Park, on a corner of the Asagiri Plateau, and from everywhere inside, from the lobby to the guest rooms, the restaurant and the onsen baths, you come face to face with Mount Fuji. Its natural onsen comes from its own source, struck by drilling, and is an alkaline simple spring prized for a silky, slightly thick feel that seems to stroke the skin. The main bathhouse has large windows, so you can gaze at the mountain rising straight ahead while immersed in the bath. There is a sauna too, and after working up a sweat you can rest quietly in the clear plateau air. A dining room and café terrace looking out on Mount Fuji, a shop and body care round out the inn, quietly supporting a stay in the midst of nature.

Main bathhouse

A main bathhouse drawing on its own source, which rises from deep underground beside the hotel. The water is an alkaline simple spring, prized for a silky, slightly thick feel that seems to stroke the skin. Because it gently lifts away sebum and grime, it is also called a “bath for beautiful skin.” Colorless, clear and almost odorless, the water is understated, and so your attention turns to the scenery before you. A large window sits directly in front of the bath, and on clear days with few clouds you can see Mount Fuji straight ahead while immersed up to your shoulders. There is no open-air bath, but the mountain filling the window carries straight on into the landscape outside.

A sauna attached to the main bathhouse. The heat reaches depths a soak alone cannot, slowly drawing out a sweat. It is just the room to loosen a body stiff from travel and shift your mood. It is open from the afternoon into the evening and closes earlier than the main bathhouse, so it fits easily into a first soak after arrival or a moment before dinner. After working up a sweat, take your time in the spacious bathing hall, steadying your breath and feeling the heat slowly subside.
