About Kyukamura Setouchi Toyo

"Kyukamura Setouchi Toyo" is a resort hotel with hot springs in Saijo, Ehime Prefecture. Set on a hill along the coast selected as one of Japan's 100 Best Beaches, every guest room has an ocean view. The bath uses Hiuchinada Onsen, fed by Mototani Onsen, one of Iyo's Three Famous Hot Springs alongside Dogo and Nibukawa. Long cherished as a beauty bath, its hypotonic, alkaline, cold mineral spring gently envelops the body. From the large public bath with its huge glass windows, you can take in a sweeping view of the Seto Inland Sea, while the open-air baths offer different spectacular scenery for men and women: the Ishizuchi mountain range and the beauty of the many islands. The public bath also has a sauna. A terrace and lounge overlooking the Seto Inland Sea, along with a buffet featuring local seafood, are also available, and day-use bathing lets you casually enjoy the hot spring alone.

Large public bath

"Hiuchinada Onsen," fed by Mototani Onsen, one of Iyo's Three Famous Hot Springs alongside Dogo and Nibukawa. Its alkaline waters, a hypotonic alkaline cold mineral spring, have long been loved as a beauty bath and gently wrap the skin in a smooth finish. From the indoor bath behind the large glass windows, the Seto Inland Sea stretches out in full view, while Mount Ishizuchi appears faint in the distance. The open-air baths differ for men and women: the men's side overlooks the Ishizuchi mountain range and the Kawaratsu coast below, while the women's side looks out over the islands floating in the Seto Inland Sea. It is said to be effective for joint pain, neuralgia, and recovery from fatigue, and an early-morning soak while gazing at the many islands is especially delightful.

Sauna

Men'sWomen's

A sauna attached to the large public bath. It can be used from late morning until night, making it easy to fit in a light sweat after check-in or to cap off the day after dinner. If you quietly bathe in the heat and work up a sweat, your stiff, travel-weary body will loosen up, and your rhythm will naturally settle into the gentle pace of the Seto Inland Sea. Because it is all within the inn, the appealing part is that you can drop by as many times as you like without worrying about the time.

Most of what we surveyed never even made it onto this site. This book is a further cut from what did. Our editor bathed in every onsen and sauna in it, and wrote only what they confirmed on the ground.
