Ehime Imabari City
A Setouchi hot spring inn with a free-flowing natural spring water cold plunge bath and a barrel sauna
"Yunoura Onsen Shionomaru" is a hot spring ryokan in Imabari, Ehime Prefecture. Located in the heart of Setonaikai National Park, it offers guests the chance to enjoy the famed Yunoura Onsen, designated as Shikoku’s first national health-promoting hot spring area. The large public bath has been renovated, and the indoor washing area now features tatami-style bath flooring, which is soft underfoot and less slippery. In the open-air area, a barrel sauna with a pleasant woody aroma and a Shigaraki ware cold plunge bath fed by free-flowing natural cold mineral spring water have been newly added. The baths overlooking the Seto Inland Sea and the outdoor relaxation in the clear air deeply soothe everyday fatigue.

Yunoura Onsen is a high-quality hot spring that was the first in Shikoku to be designated as a national health-promoting hot spring area. This simple mildly radioactive cold mineral spring contains radon and fluorine and has long been used for therapeutic bathing. The indoor washing area is laid with soft, non-slip tatami, letting you feel a sense of Japanese comfort from underfoot. While gazing at the view of the Seto Inland Sea spread out beyond the windows, you can fully enjoy this renowned hot spring.

A barrel-shaped sauna installed in the open-air area. Its rounded form allows heat to circulate efficiently and warm the entire room evenly. Wrapped in the warmth and aroma of wood, you can enjoy a slow, comfortable sweat. After leaving the sauna, you can savor a superb outdoor air bath while feeling the clear air of the Seto Inland Sea from the lounge chairs provided nearby.

A cold plunge bath using a Shigaraki ware tub newly installed in the open-air area. It luxuriously uses the natural spring water of Yunoura Onsen, which is a cold mineral spring, in free flow. The pleasantly smooth cold spring water, rich in high-quality hot spring minerals, gently cools down your heated body after the sauna. The earthy warmth unique to Shigaraki ware is also soothing.
