About Kyuukamura Nanki-Katsuura

"Kyuukamura Nanki-Katsuura" is a hot spring hotel in Nachikatsuura Town, Wakayama Prefecture. Perched on a hill in Yoshino-Kumano National Park, most of its rooms offer ocean views overlooking the Kumano-nada Sea. The large public bath, filled with sodium chloride spring water from its own natural source, features an indoor bath with glass walls that opens onto the Pacific Ocean, while the outdoor rock bath lets you soak in the hot water with the sea breeze on your face. There are also flowing tsubo-yu pots and a bath with fine bubbles that envelop the skin, making the bath-hopping experience especially enjoyable. From the terrace on the lobby floor, a panoramic view of Kumano-nada unfolds, with the starry sky at night and the rising sun over the sea in the morning. Dinner features seafood from Nanki, including tuna. It is also a convenient base for visiting Kumano Sanzan and walking the Kumano Kodo, and day-use bathing is available.

Hot SpringONSEN

Large public bath

A large public bath facing the Kumano-nada Sea, filled with sodium chloride spring water from its own source. The glass-walled indoor bath opens out onto the Pacific Ocean, letting you feel as if you own the horizon while soaking in the water. Outside, a rustic rock bath spreads out in a natural setting, with the vast ocean by day, starlight and moonlight by night, and the rising sun in the morning coloring the surface of the water. The single-person ceramic tsubo-yu is continuously fed with fresh hot spring water, and if you rest your head on the rim, the sky opens up across your entire field of view. There is also a bath filled with fine bubbles that envelop your whole body; the salty water warms you thoroughly, and the warmth lingers on your skin long after you leave the bath.

Most of what we surveyed never even made it onto this site. This book is a further cut from what did. Our editor bathed in every onsen and sauna in it, and wrote only what they confirmed on the ground.
