Livemax Resort Hakone Ashinoko is an onsen hotel in Hakone, Kanagawa Prefecture. In the main bathhouse and its airy open-air bath, you can linger in soft natural onsen water surrounded by the lush green of the mountains on Hakone’s outer caldera rim. Another great pleasure is that every room has its own semi-open-air bath of Shigaraki ware or solid hinoki, for a blissful soak in a private space where no one will disturb you. There is also a proper löyly sauna with a stove by Harvia, a leading sauna and spa brand. Moving between the indoor and open-air baths, you can give yourself over to the stillness and to the green of Hakone’s trees, which changes with the seasons, in a blissful soak.
Semi-open-air bath in your room
Every room has a semi-open-air bath, a fully private space to unwind. Each has either a Shigaraki ware tub with its own character or a fragrant tub of solid hinoki, and you can have the natural onsen water to yourself as often as you like, whenever you like, with no one to disturb you. Feeling the scenery woven by Hakone’s nature and the crystal-clear breeze, spend moments of utmost peace with someone special, or quietly on your own.

A dry sauna with a proper convection stove by Harvia, a leading sauna and spa brand. It allows löyly, pouring water over the sauna stones to raise steam, so you can adjust the felt temperature and humidity to your liking. Cold plunge
Right beside the sauna, a cold plunge that is ideal for cooling down. The cold water pulls the flushed body crisply taut, and alternating hot and cold draws out deep relaxation. There are also chairs for totonou, Adirondack chairs designed with careful attention to ergonomics; cooling off in the open air after the sauna and cold plunge, you feel blood flowing through your whole body and your senses sharpen in a superb experience of totonou, the state of deep relaxation that follows.
