Yamanashi Fuefuki City
An onsen hotel for Isawa’s skin-beautifying water and its signature wine bath
Oedo Onsen Monogatari Hotel Shinko is an onsen hotel in Fuefuki, Yamanashi Prefecture. It draws the alkaline simple spring of Isawa Onsen, a celebrated hot-spring town, and you can savor its soft, skin-beautifying water. It has two main bathhouses with different moods, Daikokuten-no-Yu and Hotei-no-Yu, which alternate between men and women so you can enjoy both. In the semi-open-air baths, where wood and stone are in harmony, the green of the garden stands out, making for a moment of calm. Both bathhouses have a dry sauna and a cold plunge, so you can cool down after a good sweat. The signature wine bath with its rich aroma, a foot bath overlooking the garden and a lavish buffet are among the touches that color your stay.

A main bathhouse filled with Isawa’s natural onsen water, renowned as skin-beautifying water. It is soft on the skin, which feels moist and supple after bathing. Alongside the indoor bath is an atmospheric semi-open-air bath, where you can bathe at leisure while gazing at the garden trees through a wooden lattice.

A main bathhouse distinguished by a soft, rounded design. The smooth water of the alkaline simple spring gently loosens the body and warms it slowly to the core. There is also an airy semi-open-air bath, where you can savor the celebrated water to your heart’s content while feeling the outside air.

A signature bath found only in Hotei-no-Yu, and one that only Yamanashi could offer. As you sink into the vivid wine-red water, a faintly sweet, rich aroma of grapes spreads around you, making for a moment of supreme relaxation. It is a special bathing experience with a touch of elegance.

A clean dry sauna with spacious two-tier benches. A convection stove stacked with sauna stones gives off powerful heat, drawing out a slow, pleasant sweat. In the quiet room you can take time with yourself and reset body and mind.

An L-shaped dry sauna in the space next to the wine bath. Heat from the convection stove gently wraps the body, carrying away the fatigue of daily life with your sweat. In the stillness, with no music or TV, you can sink into deep relaxation.

A cold plunge right beside the sauna. Its moderate chill feels wonderful, bracing a body fully warmed in the sauna. The smooth flow from sauna to cold plunge and on to cooling off in the open air at the semi-open-air bath supports a refined totonou experience, that state of deep relaxation.
