Wakayama Nachikatsuura Town
An all-inclusive onsen inn with fine food and a garden open-air bath embraced by the sound of the waves
TAOYA Nachikatsuura is an onsen resort hotel in Nachikatsuura, Wakayama Prefecture. It stands in a prime spot right in front of Nachi Bay, and its draw is the airy garden open-air bath, where the sound of the waves and the sea breeze feel close at hand. The weakly alkaline natural onsen water, with a faint scent of sulfur, has salt that gently coats the skin, so the warmth lasts after you get out. The main bathhouses, which alternate between men and women, also have a sauna and a cold plunge for a pleasant sweat. Inside, the pleasures of making your way around the baths never run out, from the warm-stone room and cooling room, free to use, to the foot bath on the Ocean Deck that juts out over the sea. Meals and lounge drinks during your stay are included in the rate in an all-inclusive style, making this a blissful place to savor the seaside views and onsen to your heart’s content.

A main bathhouse with a large rock bath. It consists of an indoor bath with a lush, jungle-like feel and a garden open-air bath surrounded by lush trees. Soak at leisure in weakly alkaline onsen water, a bath for beautiful skin, and enjoy deep relaxation of body and mind. The men’s and women’s sides alternate.

A rock bath framed by large and small rocks, and an airy garden open-air bath where you feel the sea breeze of Nachi Bay directly. Its fine onsen water has salt that wraps the skin and keeps you from getting chilled after the bath; after dusk, when the space is lit up and dreamlike, you can relax even more deeply as you listen to the waves. The men’s and women’s sides alternate.

Near the lobby, a wonderfully expansive open-air bath where you feel the sea breeze and hear the waves directly. Giving yourself over to fine natural onsen water while gazing at an unobstructed view of sky and sea is pure bliss. It is an invigorating soak that feels like becoming one with nature.

A sauna within the main bathhouse. In heat that slowly warms the body, you can let go of everyday fatigue and work up a pleasant sweat. It is a restful space for a proper refresh in the midst of an onsen trip full of airy seaside atmosphere.

A cold plunge right beside the sauna. Refreshing cold water crisply pulls the flushed body taut and brings body and mind back into balance. Clean and pleasant, it offers a moment of reset that is essential for cooling down after the sauna.

A warm-stone room where far-infrared rays from natural bedrock carry heat slowly deep into the body. In the wear provided, married couples and partners can use it together, and a gentle sweat brings a pleasant detox. After a good sweat, cool your flushed body slowly in the dedicated cooling room next door and sink into superb relaxation.
