About Mikiya Sansorai

Mikiya Sansorai is an onsen ryokan in Kaminoyama, Yamagata Prefecture. Surrounded by peaceful farmland, the inn is built entirely on a single story, and from inside you look out on a Japanese garden that changes with each season. Its pride is the water of Kaminoyama Onsen, rich in metasilicic acid and known as a “bath of beauty.” In the main bathhouse with its fine views and in the open-air bath that takes in the whole Zao mountain range, you can soak to your heart’s content in natural onsen water as soft as skin lotion, fed straight from the source, never recirculated. There are also rooms with their own open-air bath, where you have the source water all to yourself, and rooms with an indoor bath. Over kaiseki that brings Yamagata’s nature and the bounty of the countryside to the table, you can spend calm hours far from the bustle of the city.
