Kumamoto Minamiaso Village
A resort of spectacular views with the Aso panorama, sauna and natural onsen
THE ACONCAGUA RESORTS is a resort hotel in Minamiaso Village, Kumamoto Prefecture. Set on sprawling grounds far from the bustle of daily life, it offers a Finnish-style dry sauna and an infinity pool. In the sauna you can pour löyly yourself, and a cold plunge filled with Aso’s underground spring water and time cooling off in the open air with views of the mountain ridgelines let you sink into deep relaxation. The main bathhouse, walled entirely in glass, brims with water from Tochinoki Onsen, a spring with a long history since it first opened, and open-air baths in the rooms and private baths make for unhurried bathing on your own. It is a place of wellbeing at its finest.

The main bathhouse draws its water from Tochinoki Onsen, known for its abundant flow. From the indoor bath, walled entirely in glass, you can take in the nature of Minamiaso as it changes with the seasons, framed like a painting. There are also an airy outdoor bath and a rock bath, and as you soak in the soothing water you can feel your body and mind slowly unwind.

An open, fully glass-walled private bath looking down over the ridgelines that stretch from the Nango Valley. With both an indoor bath and an open-air bath, it lets you enjoy bathing privately without worrying about anyone else. In this quiet space where you feel at one with the grand nature of Aso, you can refresh to your heart’s content with someone special. This indulgent onsen is available by reservation only.

Each suite with its spectacular views comes with its own onsen open-air bath. With either the grand panorama toward the Tateno Gorge or a beautiful garden view all to yourself, you can soak as often as you like whenever you wish. Together with the clear air and a sky full of stars, it promises a superb private stay and onsen experience with no one to disturb you.

A frameless infinity pool designed to jut out from the high ground. The water seems to stretch endlessly to the horizon, and from sunset views to a night pool glowing with underwater lights, it offers a dreamlike experience. From October onward, it also serves as a chilly cold plunge for guests using the tent sauna.

A tranquil sauna room that honors the traditions of Finland. You can pour aroma water over the heated sauna stones yourself, and the rich fragrance that rises along with mellow waves of heat wraps gently around the body. Feeling the warmth of the wood as you work up a pleasant sweat, you can forget the bustle of everyday life and sit quietly with yourself in this indulgent space.

The cold plunge is filled generously with Aso’s crystal-clear underground spring water, carrying the energy of the Land of Fire. After a long, slow warm-up in the sauna, this groundwater rich in nature’s gifts refreshes you as the cold pulls the body taut. Once you step out, the finest time cooling off in the open air awaits, with soft breezes blowing across the highlands as you become one with the grand panorama of Aso.
