Arima Kaido Onsen Suzuran-no-YuVisited

Becoming One with Nature in the Forest Garden

📅August 11, 202518:00
Sometimes the most beautiful encounters happen purely by chance. After a blissful session at Yurara-no-Yu Oshikuma Store in Nara, I was suddenly seized by an irresistible urge: "I need to see summer Koshien baseball!" The weather was perfectly overcast with rain in the forecast—unusually cool temperatures for this time of year. Even the heavens seemed to be conspiring in my favor. Feeling almost divinely inspired, I made my way to the legendary Koshien Stadium. I parked nearby and headed to the ticket office, hoping to snag same-day seats. Then I saw it: "SOLD OUT" blazing across the display. My heart plummeted. I approached a staff member with desperate hope: "This means... there's absolutely no way in today?" "That's exactly what it means," came the crushing reply. "But isn't the outfield free?" I pressed, grasping at straws. "The outfield requires paid tickets too," they explained. Once again, fate was forcing a complete plan overhaul. It was 4 PM—too early for sauna hopping, which demands at least a six-hour interval between sessions. Back in my car, I wrestled with options. "Should I just drive straight home to Naruto?" But ending this journey on such a disappointing note felt utterly unsatisfying. A proper adventure deserves a triumphant finale—something refreshing and soul-stirring. I closed my eyes and tuned into my body's deepest cravings. In that moment of quiet introspection, I realized what I truly needed: authentic natural hot springs. That's when destiny led me to Arima Kaido Onsen Suzuran-no-Yu.
After checking in and cleansing myself, I surrendered completely to the indoor Arima-style natural hot spring. Every ounce of tension melted from my body as the mineral-rich waters worked their ancient magic. As warmth suffused my being and perspiration began to bead, I transitioned to the cold plunge. The moment I entered, I was stunned by the water's extraordinary quality—silky, embracing, utterly addictive. Upon closer inspection, I discovered they use continuously flowing Miyamizu, one of Japan's legendary 100 famous waters. Arima-style hot springs paired with this celebrated water? Pure genius. Even the 17°C temperature felt perfect for midsummer. Still glowing from the cold plunge experience, I ventured to the outdoor area—Suzuran-no-Yu's crown jewel. They've created an enchanted forest garden featuring flowing source spring baths, aromatic hinoki cypress baths, intimate tsubo pot baths, a löyly sauna, cold plunge pools, and abundant totonou relaxation spaces. With chairs scattered throughout, you'll never struggle to find your perfect recovery spot. Captivated by this forest-garden paradise, I made my way to the löyly sauna, where vihta bundles at the entrance promised an authentic experience. Inside, hinoki cypress fragrance enveloped me like a warm embrace. I settled onto the upper bench, closed my eyes, and drew the woody aromatics deep into my lungs. My pulse quickened—I was approaching my threshold. Emerging from the sauna, I plunged into the hinoki-lined cold bath. Waves of pure ecstasy washed over me. Eyes closed, I focused entirely on nature's symphony—the forest's breathing rhythm, its living scents. Even the cold bath seemed to pulse with life. Consciousness began to slip away as I somehow navigated to the relaxation area and collapsed into complete surrender. Once again, nature's sounds and fragrances cradled me. Five complete cycles passed in what felt like moments. This is what it means to experience hot springs and sauna in harmony with nature—to truly liberate yourself within the natural world. I was profoundly moved by the sheer bliss of it all. Another extraordinary place had revealed itself to me, and as the perfect finale to this journey, it was absolutely intoxicating. And so this adventure concludes. I feel no fatigue whatsoever—quite the opposite, I'm buzzing with renewed energy. What kind of journey awaits next? Where will wanderlust lead me? With these delicious possibilities swirling through my mind, I pointed my car toward home in Naruto.
