Hokkaido Chitose City
A hot spring resort in Hokkaido that springs up along the shore of Lake Shikotsu, Japan's northernmost non-freezing lake. Surrounded by the primeval forest of Shikotsu-Toya National Park, its iron-rich waters turn a pale brown when exposed to the air. From the inns standing on the lakeshore, you can view Mount Eniwa and Mount Fuppushi, and in winter the lights of the Hyoto Festival decorate the lakeside.
