A Nordic sauna hut produced by Oyakata Totonoe, and dozing off in supreme groundwater
“Sauna Kotan Sapporo” is a day-use bathing facility in Nishioka, Toyohira Ward, Sapporo, Hokkaido. Its biggest draw is the authentic sauna supervised by professional sauna enthusiast Hiroshi Matsuo. For men, there is a sauna hut with brick walls and striking changes in elevation, while for women there is a forest sauna where you can feel as if you are gathered around a campfire under a starry sky, allowing both men and women to experience distinctly different Nordic worlds. It also features a gentle cold water bath fed by pumped groundwater, a mud pack and salt sauna, and even an outdoor relaxation area lined with plenty of reclining chairs. A stylish lounge with a ball pool and a well-stocked manga collection is also popular.
A gentle chlorinated spring bubbling up from underground. This sodium-chloride and bicarbonate spring has a mellow, soothing texture that leaves the skin smooth to the touch when you bathe, warms you from the core of your body, and helps you stay warm without cooling off easily after bathing. In the large indoor bath and the two open-air baths with different temperatures, you can fully enjoy the atmosphere of a hot spring while feeling the nature of Sapporo.

Its defining feature is a bench design with dramatic height differences across up to 4 tiers, and it runs with a large Harvia stove and a far-infrared stove operating at the same time. When the auto löyly is in full operation, you can feel dynamic heat and powerful bursts of hot air created by the differences in elevation, making it possible for everyone from beginners to advanced sauna lovers to enjoy deep sweating at their preferred level of heat.
