Toyama Kurobe City
A paradise of free-flowing drinkable underground water and every sauna heated by a wood stove
"Yuya FUROBAKKA" is a hot spring and bath complex in Kurobe City, Toyama Prefecture. In the large bath area, Kurobeya, there are two types of wood-fired saunas: the Japanese cypress Yamagoya Sauna and the cave-like Anagura Sauna. The heat from the wood stove and löyly help you relax deeply. The cold plunge bath uses free-flowing underground water from Kurobe, pumped up at 560 liters per minute, and you can choose between a tub and a culvert-style bath. There is also a carbonated bath, an open-air bath, and an outdoor relaxation area. Family baths and private saunas, including barrel and container saunas, are also available, making private use possible. With a restaurant, BBQ area, and bonfire area on-site, you can enjoy the whole day in the open natural surroundings with views of the Tateyama Mountain Range.

A carbonated bath installed in the indoor bath area of Kurobeya, the large bath. Carbon dioxide is dissolved into the Kurobe underground water base, and fine bubbles adhere to the surface of the skin to promote circulation. The spacious tub lets you stretch out your arms and legs and soak comfortably. It is ideal as a relaxing bath before or after enjoying a sauna cycle.

A spacious open-air tub extending through the open-air area of Kurobeya, the large bath. It uses Kurobe underground water, and the colorless, transparent, soft water sparkles as it is stirred by the breeze. With its roofless, open structure, you can enjoy a stunning view of the Tateyama Mountain Range on clear days, and at night you can admire the starry sky along with the lighting. Relaxation areas for outdoor air bathing are placed throughout the surrounding space, so you can spend time at an easy pace.

A Japanese cypress sauna standing in the open-air area. Wrapped in the scent of cypress, the heat from the wood stove gently reaches your body. The left and right sides differ in height and bench width, so you can choose your preferred temperature zone. Staff perform löyly every 20 minutes, and as the humidity rises, sweating is promoted all at once. Aufguss events by popular heat wave performers are also held mainly here. In the spacious interior, you can enjoy a relaxing sense of release.

A cave-like interior covered in concrete. The dim lighting creates a deep sense of relaxation. The concrete walls retain heat well, and when you pour löyly, the temperature rises rapidly. With an automatic löyly system using shishi-odoshi, self-service is not available, but steam rises at a steady rhythm. The stepped benches are arranged so that people do not face each other, allowing for a calm and quiet experience. A more restrained space than Yamagoya, perfect for totonou.

A culvert-style cold plunge bath with a depth of 160 cm. It uses natural underground water from Kurobe, pumped up at 560 liters per minute, in a free-flowing system. The water quality is astonishingly soft and boasts top-class clarity nationwide. The water is so clean that it can be drunk directly from the outlet, and diving is allowed. The cold is not overly sharp, so your body adapts smoothly and you can soak in it for a long time. Around the cold plunge bath is an outdoor relaxation area with deck chairs, seats, and benches, where you can experience totonou while looking out at the Tateyama Mountain Range.

A culvert-style cold plunge bath with a depth of 90 cm. It uses the same free-flowing Kurobe underground water as the 160 cm-deep version and has water quality clear enough for drinking and diving. Because it is shallower, it is easier to submerge your whole body, and you can sink down to your shoulders for compact cooling. The soft water clings to the skin, bringing not only a refreshing feeling but also a mysterious sense of calm.

A tub-style cold plunge bath in the open-air area. It uses the same free-flowing Kurobe underground water as the culvert-style baths, and the water quality is maintained at a drinkable level. Its classic tub shape makes it easy to enter, and several people can use it at the same time. The water temperature may be slightly higher than the culvert-style bath, so you can use them in stages as part of your totonou routine.
