Kanno Jigoku Ryokan
"Kanno Jigoku Ryokan" is a secluded hot spring inn located in Kokonoe Town, Kusu District, Oita Prefecture. Discovered in the late Edo period and established in 1928, it is a historic therapeutic hot spring site. The "Dan no Jigoku Sauna," which opened in July 2023, features a self-löyly style with a wood-burning stove, offering an exquisite alternation of high-temperature sauna and cold spring bath. The cold spring (Reisen) at about 13-14°C is said to be effective for burns, fractures, and sprains, and can also be used as a cold plunge bath after the sauna. The inn building is equipped with natural hot spring baths and cold spring baths, providing relaxation in the "Totonoe Heating Room" and "Totonoe Deck." At an altitude of about 1100m on the slopes of the Kuju Mountain Range, you can enjoy a unique cold and warm alternating bath experience.

Kanno Jigoku Onsen
A natural hot spring flowing from an altitude of 1100m on the slopes of the Kuju Mountain Range. The hot spring, heated from the cold spring and free-flowing, has a soft texture and gently warms the body. Separate from the sauna and cold spring area, the inn building has gender-separated hot spring baths, where you can enjoy the hot spring heated from the source and a cold spring bath at about 18°C. After bathing, the skin becomes smooth, and the heat retention effect is high. It is said to be effective for burns, fractures, sprains, neuralgia, and muscle pain, and has long been cherished as a therapeutic hot spring site. With the sauna and cold spring bathing fee, you can also use the hot spring, allowing for a diverse bathing experience.

Dan no Jigoku Sauna
A wood-burning stove sauna opened in July 2023. The heat emitted from sauna stones heated by wood is gentle and deep, gradually warming the core of the body. Self-löyly is possible, allowing you to enjoy the steam at your own pace. A mixed-gender style with swimsuits, you can sweat while enveloped in the refreshing air at an altitude of 1100m. The sauna room has a calm atmosphere, with only the sound of crackling wood echoing in the silence, allowing you to concentrate and achieve totonou.
Cold Spring (Reisen)
A natural cold spring that has continued since the late Edo period. With a temperature of 13-14°C, it is quite cold, allowing you to cool down quickly after heating your body in the high-temperature sauna. The cold spring is also known as Reisen and is said to be effective for burns, fractures, and sprains. Immersing in the cold spring after the sauna provides a unique stimulation and refreshing sensation throughout the body. Enjoy the fresh cold spring in a mixed-gender setting with swimsuits, in a free-flowing style.
