About Yuya Ebisu

Yuya Ebisu is a day-use onsen bathhouse in Myoban Onsen, Beppu, Oita Prefecture. In bathing rooms that switch between men and women daily, you can indulge in two kinds of source water: a milky sulfur spring with its distinctive aroma, and a clear, colorless simple spring that is gentle on the skin. Its greatest draw is the hakomushi, a box steam bath for one handed down since the Edo period. Sitting in a wooden box with only your head sticking out while natural onsen steam bathes your whole body is an exceptional detox you can have only here. After cooling down in the fan-shaped cold plunge, you can enjoy blissful cooling off in the open air in the relaxation room on high ground overlooking Beppu Bay, feeling the pleasant sea breeze.

The open-air baths on the ground floor and the indoor baths one floor up, which switch between men and women daily, hold a wide variety of tubs, so you can make your way around them to your heart’s content, feeling the sky and the wind.

Yamagoya Box Steam Bath

A traditional box steam bath handed down in Beppu’s Myoban area since long ago. In this unique style you sit inside a wooden box with only your head outside, and the onsen steam rising from the natural sulfur spring bathes your whole body. Without feeling stifled, you can enjoy a slow, pleasant sweat, wrapped in the heat and aroma that are gifts of nature.

A private open-air bath where you can enjoy the sulfur spring in a space of your own, something rare even in Myoban Onsen. A private indoor bath in the guest room Usagi-no-Neiki, the only place where you can have the acidic sulfur spring all to yourself.
