Oita Beppu City
An onsen resort with a rooftop open-air bath overlooking Beppu Bay and a wide variety of baths to make your way around
Oedo Onsen Monogatari Premium Hotel Fugetsu is an onsen hotel in Beppu, Oita. It stands in Kannawa Onsen, one of the Beppu Hatto (Beppu’s eight onsen areas), and offers natural onsen water from a sodium chloride spring that holds its warmth well. The main building has a rooftop open-air bath overlooking Beppu Bay and the steaming town, along with a spacious main bathhouse. On the grounds is also Yume Tamatebako, a day-use bathhouse, where you can make your way around more than 10 kinds of baths, including the local specialty hako-mushi-buro, a box steam bath handed down since the Edo period. After bathing, you can relax in the Premium Lounge with complimentary drinks or at the sand foot bath, and round off a satisfying stay with a buffet of Oita’s local delicacies.

A spectacular open-air bath on the top floor of the hotel’s main building. The women’s bath is a roofed hinoki bath and the men’s bath is a rock bath, and both look out over Beppu Bay, the streets of Kannawa with steam trailing through them, and all the way to Mount Tsurumi. In a wide-open setting, you can enjoy chloride spring water that holds its warmth well.

A spacious indoor bath in the main building. It is filled with sodium chloride spring water that leaves the skin soft and moist, warming you to the core so you stay warm long after bathing. In the roomy tub, the fatigue of travel gently eases away.

A bathhouse on the hotel grounds. With a wide range of baths, including open-air baths, reclining baths and hinoki baths, you can enjoy the feel of making your way around many baths without leaving the premises. In an atmospheric Japanese setting, you can enjoy Beppu’s renowned waters to your heart’s content.

A private bath where you can enjoy the onsen in a space of your own without worrying about others. In a calm atmosphere, you can spend time alone together with family or someone special.

An unusual foot bath in the lobby. Instead of hot water, you rest your feet in warmed sand, and a gentle warmth spreads from your feet through your whole body, making it a soothing place to catch your breath after arriving.

A Japanese-style sauna and a specialty of Kannawa in Beppu, set in the open-air area of Yume Tamatebako. What sets it apart is that you sit inside a wooden box with your head outside it. Rich onsen steam fills the box, so you sweat gently and pleasantly without feeling short of breath.
