About Obuse Onsen Akebi no Yu

"Obuse Onsen Akebi no Yu" is an accommodation and day-use bathing facility in Obuse Town, Nagano Prefecture. Located on the slopes of Mount Kanda, its greatest pride is the breathtaking view from this elevated setting. The hot spring water is a sulfurous, calcium-sodium chloride spring, and depending on weather conditions such as temperature and humidity, it changes appearance from emerald green to cloudy white and even colorless and clear, creating a mysterious onsen that seems to transform day by day. The large bath is on the 3rd floor, and from both the indoor bath and the spacious open-air bath, you can take in the sweeping panoramic view of Zenkoji Plain (the Nagano Basin) and Hokushin Gogaku below. The sauna room also has large windows, making it a blissful place to quietly work up a sweat while gazing at this beautiful scenery.

Hot SpringONSEN

Bath

A natural hot spring with a sulfurous, calcium-sodium chloride spring (pH 8.5, source temperature 42.9°C). The water changes mysteriously between emerald green and cloudy white depending on weather and humidity, and rare black mineral flakes drift through it. The open-air bath is supplied with fresh spring water that is not disinfected and only heated, and it overflows naturally. While looking up at the breathtaking scenery of Hokushin Gogaku and Zenkoji Plain spread out before you, you can fully enjoy an exceptional bath and outdoor air bathing.

Most of what we surveyed never even made it onto this site. This book is a further cut from what did. Our editor bathed in every onsen and sauna in it, and wrote only what they confirmed on the ground.
