"Mountain Sauna × Hot Spring" at Shigakogen Lodge is a private sauna available by full reservation only. After enjoying self-löyly in the sauna room, scented like it has been gently smoked by a genuine wood-burning stove, you can move on to the natural, free-flowing cold plunge bath drawn from a stream 1 km upstream. In winter, the water temperature is around 5°C, offering a truly bone-chilling grusin, or single-digit-temperature, experience. It also comes as a set with an emerald-green natural hot spring fed directly from the source, so you can fully enjoy the ultimate outdoor bathing experience in the spectacular scenery and crisp air of Shiga Kogen.
