Hita Onsen Hananoki RIVER TERRACE is an onsen inn on the banks of the Mikuma River in Hita, Oita Prefecture. The main bathhouse for men and the one for women each have an authentic convection-style Finnish sauna where you can enjoy löyly. After the sauna, the cold plunge, fed continuously with the clear groundwater of Hita, the town of water, gently cools your flushed body as the cold pulls the body taut. The inn’s prized natural onsen comes from a source that rises on its own from deep underground. In the open-air bath, you can soak in water fed straight from the source, never recirculated, brought to just the right temperature by the Yuamedake bamboo cooling system. Rich in metasilicic acid, this water for beautiful skin leaves your skin moisturized, and together with river-view rooms and a wide range of amenities throughout the inn, it promises a restful, refined stay.

The main bathhouse draws natural onsen water from a spring that rises on its own from about 1,500 m (4,900 ft) underground. The men’s and the women’s sides each have an open-air bath and four indoor baths, and in the open-air bath you can soak in water fed straight from the source, never recirculated, brought to just the right temperature by Yuamedake, a bamboo cooling system. The water contains metasilicic acid, a natural moisturizing component, and is loved as a bath for beautiful, moisturized skin. Infused with the gifts of nature, it gently melts away the fatigue of everyday life.

Finnish Sauna
An authentic Finnish sauna found in both the men’s and the women’s main bathhouse. Its convection stove warms the air rather than blasting the skin, so the heat feels gentle and seeps comfortably into the core of your body. Löyly keeps the humidity at the right level, making it easy to breathe, so you can take your time to sit with the heat, work up a good sweat and sink into deep relaxation.
