About Oedo Onsen Monogatari Awara
Oedo Onsen Monogatari Awara is an onsen hotel in Awara, Fukui. The main bathhouse has a dry sauna with no television, where the quiet is preserved and you can take your time working up a sweat. There is no cold plunge, but after cooling down under a cold shower you can enjoy cooling off in the open air in a spacious outdoor area overlooking the garden. The skin-beautifying natural onsen, which contains metasilicic acid, can be enjoyed in two kinds of open-air bath: a dramatic rock bath and a slatted-wood bath in pleasant dappled sunlight. There is also a wealth of free extras, from table tennis and a manga corner to a lounge for after your bath, so you can spend the whole day relaxing with family or friends.

Enjoy two kinds of bath: a dramatic rock bath that makes you feel at one with the surrounding nature, and a slatted-wood bath where dappled sunlight falls pleasantly through bamboo blinds. Soaking in the natural onsen, gentle on the skin, you can feel the breeze of each season and the breath of nature and spend a soothing time for body and mind.
Main bathhouse: indoor bath
An indoor bath whose appeal is a design that lets you gaze out from the spacious tub over the beautiful garden outside. Stretch your arms and legs as far as they go and give your whole body over to the natural onsen, gentle against the skin. Feeling nature’s breath amid the rising steam, you can savor a calm time that seems to free you from the fatigue of everyday life.

Dry sauna
A dry sauna lined entirely in wood inside the main bathhouse, kept quiet with no television. Undisturbed by distractions, you can sit with the heat in silence, taking your time with yourself as you work up a pleasant sweat. After the sauna, we recommend cooling down under the cold shower near the entrance, then moving on to cooling off in the open air in the outdoor area overlooking the garden.

Guests with tattoos, temporary tattoo stickers, body paint or the like may not use the main bathhouse. However, tattoos small enough to be completely covered by two 10 × 14 cm (4 × 5.5 in) cover patches are permitted in the main bathhouse, provided you wear the designated cover patches. Cover patches are sold at the front desk for ¥220 each (tax included).

- About 15 minutes from Kanazu IC on the Hokuriku Expressway
- About 45 minutes from Komatsu Airport
By train and bus
- Hokuriku Shinkansen to Awaraonsen Station, then about 15 minutes by car
- Echizen Railway to Awara-Yunomachi Station, then about 5 minutes by car
- From Awaraonsen Station, take a local bus for about 10 minutes to the Onsengai Iriguchi stop, then walk about 5 minutes
Shuttle
- Overnight guests can use the shuttle bus between the inn and Awaraonsen Station or Awara-Yunomachi Station (advance reservation required)
