Main bathhouse
The main bathhouse draws on Matsushima Onsen, known as Taiko Tensen. The water is a blend of a chloride spring, which holds in warmth well, and a sulfate spring, which is gentle on the skin. The glass-walled indoor bath has a high ceiling and a wonderfully open feel. Above the roofless open-air bath, blue sky spreads out by day and a sky full of stars by night, and together with Matsushima’s charming scenery you can enjoy a soak that seems to cleanse body and mind.

An authentic dry sauna with a clean feel. In its solid heat you can take your time with yourself and enjoy a pleasant sweat. There is no cold plunge, but after cooling down with the cold water for dousing beside the sauna or a cold shower, cooling off in the open air on a chair by the open-air bath brings deep relaxation as you feel the Matsushima breeze.

Guests with tattoos, temporary tattoo stickers, body paint or the like may not use the main bathhouse. However, tattoos small enough to be completely covered by two 10 × 14 cm (4 × 5.5 in) cover patches are permitted in the main bathhouse, provided you wear the designated cover patches. Cover patches are sold at the front desk for ¥220 each (tax included).
