About Hai-fu

Hai-fu is an Asian resort-style onsen ryokan on Watakano Island in Shima City, Mie Prefecture. Every guest room comes with a private open-air bath overlooking Matoya Bay, allowing you to enjoy the property's own Isobe Watakano Onsen anytime in complete privacy. Guests can also use the expansive garden open-air bath at the adjacent main building, Fukujuso, which features a compact but authentic dry sauna with the aroma of wood, a cold plunge bath, and an outdoor bathing area where you can listen to the sound of the waves. It is the perfect hideaway for an indulgent, quiet escape for adults who want to do nothing at all.

Isobe Watakano Onsen

The property's own Isobe Watakano Onsen can be enjoyed in the open-air baths of all rooms at Hai-fu, as well as in the large bath and garden open-air bath at the adjacent main building, Fukujuso. This chloride spring that rises from beneath the sea is officially designated as a therapeutic spring, reflecting its exceptional quality. Because the salt forms a film on the skin and prevents heat from escaping, it has excellent warming effects and is effective for sensitivity to cold and joint pain. It is popular for both bathing and drinking.

A very compact hinoki-wood dry sauna located in the large bath area of the adjacent main building, Fukujuso, which operates on a gender-swapping schedule. With no TV and only an hourglass, the quiet sauna room seats at most 3 to 4 people, giving it an intimate feel. Because the room is so compact, the heat circulates היט?щ? to strong effect, powerfully encouraging perspiration from deep within the body. It is a space where you can calmly face the heat.

A compact cold bath in the large bath area of Fukujuso, featuring an atmospheric wooden tub. Though it is a small, one-person size, the crisply chilled water firmly cools the body after sauna use and tightens up your overheated skin. The water feels smooth, and you can enjoy a cooling sensation that gradually seeps into the body. It also offers excellent access to the outdoor bathing area for fresh-air bathing.
