An inn with an open-air rock bath fed by its own natural spring and a spectacular Finnish sauna overlooking Ishikari Bay

Hokkaido Otaru City

"Ryotei Yuyado Ginrinsou" is a distinguished inn in Sakura, Otaru, Hokkaido, housed in a former herring mansion designated as a historic building by the city of Otaru. Situated on a hill near Hiraiso Cape at an elevation of about 60 meters, it commands a sweeping panorama of Ishikari Bay right in front of you. The large open-air bath is a rock bath of about 100 tsubo, laid with select stones gathered from across Hokkaido, and fed by the inn's own natural spring, Hiraiso Onsen, whose water is soft and gentle. In the open-air area, there is also a Finnish sauna overlooking the horizon of Ishikari Bay, where you can enjoy the ultimate relaxation wrapped in silence and spectacular scenery.

Hot Spring & Bath Information

Hiraiso Onsen

TypeNatural Hot Spring

A rich private spring that bubbles up continuously from 1,300 meters underground on the property. The sodium sulfate-chloride spring water has an exceptionally soft feel and provides abundant moisture. It is used in the vast open-air rock bath of about 100 tsubo, laid with famous stones from across Hokkaido, as well as in the large Oriental-style circular indoor bath scented with natural Japanese cypress. After bathing, your body stays warm from the core and cool-down chills are said to be hard to catch, making it a renowned hot spring.
