About Yuraku

"Yuraku" is a hot spring ryokan in Awara, Fukui Prefecture, with the refined atmosphere of traditional Japan. The large baths, "Taro no Yu" and "Hanako no Yu," filled with sodium chloride spring water from the inn's own source, switch every night, and at "Kojin no Yu," surrounded by a 500-tsubo Japanese garden, you can enjoy an enchanting open-air bath with a waterfall flowing nearby. The sauna adjoining "Taro no Yu" is an extremely rare "medium-temperature sauna," with a hot spring bath placed right in the center of the sauna room. Like warming up in a foot bath, it gently encourages perspiration in high humidity, offering a uniquely delightful bathing experience unlike any other.

Hot SpringONSEN

Large Bath Taro no Yu (Rock Bath)

A spacious large bath filled with the abundance of the inn's own sodium chloride spring water. The large indoor bath is roomy enough to stretch out your arms and legs and soak in comfort, while the highly heat-retaining water warms you thoroughly to the core. It switches every night with "Hanako no Yu," so you can enjoy a different atmosphere depending on the time of day.

Garden Large Bath Kojin no Yu (Great Waterfall Open-Air Bath)

A spectacular open-air bath surrounded by a vast 500-tsubo Japanese garden. While gazing up close at the dramatic waterfall rushing down before you, you can enjoy a deeply atmospheric bathing experience. At night, underwater lights make the surface of the bath glow, allowing you to fully savor an exceptional hot spring experience in a magical setting that is completely different from the daytime.

Most of what we surveyed never even made it onto this site. This book is a further cut from what did. Our editor bathed in every onsen and sauna in it, and wrote only what they confirmed on the ground.
