About Shinshu no Yu Seifuen

"Shinshu no Yu Seifuen" is a distinguished long-established hot spring ryokan with about 90 years of history, standing by the Chikuma River in Togura Kamiyamada Onsen in Chikuma City, Nagano Prefecture. Its greatest appeal is the abundant flow of 100% natural free-flowing hot spring water from three private spring sources on the property (all baths except the guest rooms). The mildly alkaline simple hot spring is exceptionally good for skin, gently removing dead skin cells and leaving your skin smooth and silky after bathing. The two thoughtfully designed large baths, Manten no Yu and Sazare no Yu, are equipped with a sauna and a mild cold plunge bath. There are also three different private baths and a foot bath that flows through the garden, allowing you to enjoy a wide variety of bathing experiences to your heart's content.

Manten no Yu

An indoor bath fed directly from the property's private spring and a spacious open-air bath with a wonderful sense of openness, both using 100% natural free-flowing hot spring water (men and women alternate by time). This very gentle alkaline simple spring with a pH of 8.7 has a smooth, viscous feel that is kind to the skin. It has excellent cleansing effects that remove dead skin cells, and after bathing you can clearly feel the outstanding moisturizing effect and the amazing smooth, silky feel that make it a renowned beauty hot spring.

Sazare no Yu

A large bath area where you can enjoy the appeal of hot springs in a wide variety of ways, with men and women alternating by time. In addition to a spacious free-flowing indoor bath, it includes a bed bath with jet bubbles that gently stimulate you as you lie back, a Shigaraki-ware ceramic pot bath where you can soak while gazing at the greenery of the garden, and a tasteful open-air bath. You can surrender your whole body to this pleasantly textured, beneficial alkaline natural hot spring and spend a blissful, refreshing time at your own pace.

Private Bath

A private family bath available exclusively to overnight guests, with three different baths to choose from. In addition to the most luxurious option, Kaede no Yu, where you can have the indoor bath and open-air bath all to yourself, there is Tsubaki no Yu, which soothes you with the scent of its hinoki bathtub, and Hagi no Yu, featuring a warm ceramic bath. All of them are continuously fed with 100% private-source hot spring water. You can enjoy an exceptional hot spring experience with just your family or partner, without worrying about anyone else watching.

A dry sauna installed in the large bath area, which operates on a men-and-women alternating schedule. Compactly designed in a corner of the bathing area, this hinoki-wood space is set up without a TV or background music, creating an appealing atmosphere of quiet. The pleasantly hot, dry air wraps around your whole body, encouraging a refreshing sweat in a short time, making it a gentle sauna space that feels just right for a hot spring resort.

A very compact cold plunge bath for one person, placed right next to the sauna room. Because it is set to a mild, gentle temperature, it is easy to use even for those who are not fond of cold baths or who are new to sauna. After heating up in the hot spring or sauna, you can cool down slowly and comfortably while wrapped in the smooth water's embrace.
