"Tamanoyu, Togura Kamiyamada Onsen" is an elegant, tranquil ryokan set on the gentle banks of the Chikuma River in Chikuma City, Nagano Prefecture, and proud of its 100% natural free-flowing hot springs. From the panoramic large bath on the top floor of the main building and the retro wooden open-air bath, guests can take in sweeping views of the Chikuma River and the lush satoyama landscape, and enjoy the renowned spring as many times as they like throughout the night. The hot spring is a slightly sulfurous, mildly alkaline simple sulfur spring with a soft, silky feel that wraps around the skin, known as a beauty bath. In addition to the large bath, there is a private open-air bath where you can enjoy your own secluded view, as well as many detached rooms with their own 24-hour private free-flowing hot spring baths, allowing for a luxurious, stay-inside-and-relax onsen experience.

Panoramic Large Bath and Open-Air Bath

Located on the 5th floor, the top floor of the main building, this panoramic large bath overlooks the tranquil flow of the Chikuma River and the beautiful satoyama across the river. The indoor bath uses chic two-tone granite, and beyond it lies a nostalgic wooden bathhouse with an open, atmospheric panoramic open-air bath. Filled with a smooth natural hot spring that carries a faint sulfur aroma and flows in 100% natural free-flowing form, it is a place where you can savor this famous spring anytime, all night long, from dusk until the stars come out.

Private Open-Air Bath

A private open-air bath reserved for staying guests, located on the side opposite the top-floor large bath. In complete tranquility, free from interruption, this luxurious space lets you enjoy 100% natural free-flowing hot spring water while taking in the splendid views of the Chikuma River basin. The slightly cloudy water is gentle on the skin and slowly eases away daily fatigue and chronic stiffness. 45-minute reservation required, fee applies.

Private Free-Flowing Open-Air Bath in Guest Room (Detached Rooms and Special Rooms)

An exquisite guest-room private open-air bath and indoor bath installed in rooms such as the detached tatami-annex "Mimatsutei" and the newly created special room "Tsukikaze Retreat" on the 4th floor of the main building. Whenever you like, you can soak as much as you wish in the famous sulfur-scented spring, flowing directly from the source at 100%, and enjoy a completely private 24-hour bathing experience. A luxurious bathing facility that meets a variety of needs, including stay-inside-and-relax recuperation, families with small children, and universal design with wheelchair accessibility.
