Atagawakan

A roofless, spectacular free-flowing open-air bath facing Izu Oshima

Shizuoka Higashiizu Town

"Atagawakan" is a hot spring inn in Atagawa Onsen in Higashiizu Town, Kamo District, Shizuoka Prefecture, with ocean views from every room. Right in front of the inn stretches the magnificent Izu Oshima, letting you feel the sound of the waves and the sea breeze up close in an unbeatable location. The large public bath, Shikaiha, features an open-air bath floating on the sea, made possible by intentionally leaving the roof off to create an overwhelming sense of openness and a star-filled sky. You can luxuriate in the highly mineral-rich, high-temperature private spring, Yahata no Yu, which gushes out at 150 liters per minute, flowing straight from the source into the large public bath and the four private baths with different atmospheres called Tsubaki.

Private Bath Tsubaki

TypeNatural Hot Spring

Flow-through

Four private baths with different atmospheres, inspired by the growth stages of a camellia: Seed, Sprout, Bud, and Flower. Each space is carefully designed with attention to layout, materials, and small details, and you can exclusively enjoy the private spring Yahata no Yu in a free-flowing style. For example, Seed is a quiet, dark space inspired by waiting to sprout underground, where you can enjoy the ripples of water reflected on the ceiling. It is the ideal premium area for savoring freshly sourced famous water in your preferred private setting.
