About Akakura Kanko Hotel
Akakura Kanko Hotel is a highland resort hotel in Myoko, Niigata Prefecture. Set about 1,000 m (3,300 ft) up the slopes of Mount Myoko, it looks out over a sweeping, unobstructed panorama, and when the weather is right, a dreamlike sea of clouds. Every bath is filled with natural onsen water from Akakura Onsen, a celebrated spring since the Edo period, fed straight from the source, never recirculated. A mist sauna next to the women’s main bathhouse. Soft vapor fills the room, gently enveloping skin and hair and leaving them moisturized. Even those who find the intense heat of a dry sauna too much can warm up to the core at their own pace without feeling short of breath, in a calm and relaxing space.
