About Bettei Senjuan
Bettei Senjuan is an onsen inn in Minakami, Tone District, Gunma Prefecture. Every room, each with its own character, has an open-air bath fed straight from the source, never recirculated, so you can bathe in privacy with Mount Tanigawa as borrowed scenery close at hand. The main bathhouses offer a sauna lined with binchotan charcoal for outstanding heat efficiency and a mist sauna that is gentle on the skin. There is also a fully private sauna for overnight guests only, looking out over the spectacular Tanigawa Gorge, where the river right in front of you can serve as your cold plunge for a supremely immersive experience.
Hot SpringONSEN
Ichi-no-Kura
A spacious indoor bath scented with hinoki. Tanigawa Onsen water, which has welled up since the Edo period, is fed straight from the source, never recirculated, and the mildly alkaline water, gentle on the skin, envelops the whole body. It is ideal for warming up before or after the binchotan charcoal sauna, and you can relax at leisure in a quiet, private space.
Suzumushi-no-Yu
An open-air bath along the mountain stream, attached to the Ichi-no-Kura main bathhouse. Hypotonic, mildly alkaline onsen water, gentle on the skin, is fed straight from the source, never recirculated, so you can warm body and soul slowly in the midst of nature. Surrounded by the clear Tanigawa River and greenery, you can spend a moment filled with a sense of openness.
Hotaru-no-Yu
A spectacular open-air bath with a wonderful sense of openness, attached to the Sen-no-Kura main bathhouse and overlooking the Tanigawa Gorge. As you soak in fresh onsen water fed straight from the source, never recirculated, you feel the pleasant breeze crossing the Tanigawa River on your skin. It is a luxurious soak, as though you had to yourself the panorama of nature, which changes its expression with each season.
Sen-no-Kura
A spaciously built indoor bath. Hypotonic, mildly alkaline onsen water, gentle on the skin, is fed straight from the source, never recirculated; it keeps you warm long after bathing, and a cleansing effect can also be expected. Used together with the mist sauna, it lets you feel even greater relaxation and beauty benefits.
Walking bath
A walking bath, open in summer only, next to the spa room. With the Tanigawa River flowing right in front of you, it is a perfect spot to relax while soaking up the forest air. Walking through onsen water adjusted to a pleasant temperature gently soothes tired feet.
Open-air bath in your room
A private open-air bath fed straight from the source, never recirculated, in every room, each with its own character. With Mount Tanigawa as borrowed scenery close at hand, you can enjoy the onsen as often as you like, whenever you like. In a completely private space with no one to disturb you, you can spend blissful time quietly and at leisure.
SaunaSAUNA
Ichi-no-Kura Sauna
A dry sauna attached to the Ichi-no-Kura main bathhouse, its walls lined with binchotan charcoal for outstanding heat efficiency. It offers löyly you pour yourself, scented with birch, and vihta (bundles of birch twigs) are provided. A reclining area by the window lets you linger at leisure while gazing at the lush green scenery outside.
Sen-no-Kura Sauna
A low-temperature mist sauna attached to the Sen-no-Kura main bathhouse, gentle on the skin. Soft vapor envelops the whole body, warming you slowly to the core. A relaxing space recommended for those who don’t care for intense heat, and for women too.
Private sauna 3u7.Mt.1977
A private sauna for overnight guests only, available strictly by reservation, built around the concept of “a sauna you want to try at least once in your life.” Through the glass front of the room you gaze at the spectacular view of Mount Tanigawa, and with löyly you pour yourself you can set the heat just as you like. In quiet dialogue with nature, you can enjoy a supremely immersive experience that makes you forget the bustle of daily life.
