About Hakone Gora Karaku
"Hakone Gora Karaku" is a hot spring ryokan in Hakone Town, Ashigarashimo District, Kanagawa Prefecture. Perched on the heights of Gora, it offers sweeping views of the Hakone mountain range and even Sagami Bay from two distinctive open-air observatories. One has a dry sauna and the other a mist sauna, and with the baths alternating for men and women, guests can enjoy both bathing experiences. The spring water is a sodium chloride hot spring, and its warmth lingers deep in the body long after you get out. Three private baths with different styles—hinoki, rock, and microbubble—plus hot spring open-air baths in every guest room make it possible to soak whenever you like, for as long as you like, which is the ultimate luxury. The property also features two dining venues, a guest lounge, and a spa.
Hot SpringONSEN
Open-air observatory bath "Sokai"
A grand open-air observatory bath with expansive views of the mountains and Sagami Bay as borrowed scenery. Nothing blocks the view, and when you sink into the water, the sky and mountain ridges open up endlessly around you. On clear days, a refreshing blue reflects on the surface of the water, creating the sensation of floating on the sea. The sodium chloride hot spring water is soft and comfortable on the skin, and its warmth lingers long after you get out. It has both an indoor bath and an open-air bath, and with the baths alternating by gender, it reveals different expressions in the morning and evening.
Open-air observatory bath "Myojo"
An open-air observatory bath facing directly toward Myojogatake, commonly known as Mt. Daimonji. Soaking in the indoor bath brings the mountainside straight into view, while in the open air the changing light and breeze rise beyond the steam. The bath is surrounded by entirely different seasonal scenery—from fresh green gradients to blazing autumn leaves and a silent world of silver snow. As you surrender yourself to the mellow feel of the sodium chloride hot spring, the flow of time gradually loosens and slows.
Private bath
A reservation-only private bath for exclusive use. The bath lined with plenty of hinoki wood is filled with the scent of wood, and the view of the bamboo garden brings a deep sense of calm, like forest bathing. The other is a rock bath built from stones from Gora, where the chic black and gray stone surfaces convey the atmosphere of the place, and the greenery of the garden spreads beyond the large glass windows. Being able to soak without worrying about others, alone with family or someone special, is the greatest luxury of all. Drinks are also provided in the changing room, so you can quietly savor the lingering afterglow of the bath. *The private bath is available for an additional fee by reservation.
In-room open-air bath
A private hot spring open-air bath on the balcony of every guest room. From the tub, you can take in the townscape of Miyanoshita, the Hakone mountain range, and even distant Sagami Bay, creating an immersive bathing experience that makes you feel as though you are in the midst of nature. Being able to sink into the water whenever the mood strikes, late at night or at dawn, without worrying about anyone else, is one of the great pleasures of this ryokan. After getting out, you can sink into a terrace chair, drink in hand, and relax in the mountain breeze, savoring a leisurely trip free from time pressure.

Shuttle service
- Free shuttle service between JR Odawara Station and the ryokan operates twice daily (usually 45 to 50 minutes, but during busy periods and heavy traffic it may take 1 hour 30 minutes to 2 hours)
