Main bathhouse
Natural onsen water of the Hotaka Onsen area, drawn from two sources in the Nakabusa Valley at an elevation of 1,450 m (4,757 ft). It is an alkaline simple spring, and because it is mild with a soft feel on the skin, it is also called a “bath for beautiful skin.” The indoor bath faces large windows that reflect the nature outside, and as you give yourself to the softly lit water, the fatigue of travel slowly melts away. The open-air bath, reached from the same bathhouse, is ringed with rocks and feels wide open; in the morning you wake refreshed to birdsong, and at night you can spend a magical time amid a sky full of stars and rising steam. There is even a spot in the bath set up for chatting, so talking while you soak is a pleasure too.
