Kinjo Onsen MotoyuVisited

The Best Morning Bath of My Life

📅October 6, 202506:00
On the final day of my Hokuriku sauna journey, I woke up at 5:30 AM. Since I went to bed around 9 PM the previous night, I woke up feeling incredibly refreshed. The last day of the trip is when I feel the best. It's a tradition of my sauna journeys. I quickly changed and decided to head to "Kinjou Onsen Motoyu." You might wonder if it's okay to go this early in the morning. "Kinjou Onsen Motoyu" opens at 6 AM. It's a 20-minute walk from my accommodation, "Terume Kanazawa." I arrived a little after 6 AM. Upon entering the large public bath, I was surprised to see quite a few people. Mostly elderly, but there were also a few people with full-body tattoos. I felt a bit intimidated, but seeing them enjoying the hot spring with such content expressions put me at ease. I cleansed myself and soaked in the natural hot spring with free-flowing water. It's a brownish hot spring similar to "Terume Kanazawa," but the color at "Kinjou Onsen Motoyu" is darker. The temperature is set at 38°C, the ultimate relaxing temperature. As I immersed myself in the central free-flowing bath, the hot spring seeped into my morning body. My entire body relaxed, and I almost fell asleep. Looking to the side, I saw a man with full-body tattoos sound asleep. Perhaps he's exhausted from working at night. After warming my body in the hot spring, I decided to enter the sauna. It's a very retro Showa-style sauna, but you can feel the dedication. First, the sauna stove is incredibly large. I wondered how many kilos of stones it would take to make it this big. On top of the sauna stones, there's a container with herbs, allowing the steam generated by the löyly to spread through the room via the herbs. The sauna room is filled with a pleasant herbal aroma. I thought it was a very nice sauna. Glancing at the TV, "Mezamashi TV" was on. Watching "Mezamashi TV" while having a morning sauna felt somewhat refreshing. Exiting the sauna, I headed to the cold plunge bath. The cold plunge bath at "Kinjou Onsen Motoyu" is also drinkable. It boasts excellent water quality, with underground water constantly overflowing from the bath. The abundant water and the sight of it overflowing somehow felt pleasant. I rinsed off the sweat from the sauna and entered the cold plunge bath. What smoothness! It had a melting texture. This sensation was similar to what I felt at Ogaki Sauna and Spa Alps. Moreover, the water temperature is a perfect 16°C. Despite being in cold water, my body was relaxed. Every cell in my body was roaring. This was the most pleasant morning bath of my life. As a customary act, I went near the faucet of the cold plunge bath and drank the overflowing water directly. Delicious. The mineral-rich water seeped into my morning body. Now, my organs began to roar. I got out of the cold plunge bath and collapsed onto a nearby bench. It felt so good I almost lost consciousness, but I barely held on. It was only the first set, after all. I rested for about 10 minutes before heading for the second sauna set. In the end, I completed a total of 4 sauna and cold plunge bath sets. I planned for 3 sets, but it felt so good that I went for a fourth. It was one of the top experiences in my life. Despite staying at the "Terume Kanazawa" hot spring facility, it was worth the extra effort to come here. After leaving the large public bath, I bought a strap to commemorate the best morning bath of my life. I always buy some item from places that move me. Every time I see that item, I can remember that moment. Ishikawa Prefecture is far away. I might never be able to visit this facility again. I travel with the spirit of "once-in-a-lifetime encounters." Clutching the strap I purchased, I walked back to my accommodation at "Terume Kanazawa."

When I arrived at the hotel, it was just before 8 AM, so I had a buffet-style breakfast. Energy was being replenished in my body after the morning sauna. I had forgotten due to the overwhelming pleasure at "Kinjo Onsen Motoyu," but it seems the weather is nice today too. Maybe I'll stop by "Kenrokuen," which I couldn't visit yesterday, before heading back. The plan for the final day is coming together. Since I have to leave Kanazawa before noon, "Kinjo Onsen Motoyu" became the last facility of my Hokuriku sauna journey. It was an exquisite natural hot spring, sauna, and cold plunge bath, perfect for concluding the trip. I definitely want to come back. During the Hokuriku sauna journey, I visited a total of seven facilities over four days and three nights. All seven facilities had cold plunge baths with underground water, and five of them had "drinkable cold plunge baths." The saunas and cold plunge baths in Hokuriku are astonishing. It's undoubtedly a rare experience in my life. I'm grateful for being able to add such a treasure to my experiences. And thank you to the sauna facilities for providing the best experience. With this, the Hokuriku sauna journey comes to an end. I wonder what kind of sauna journey awaits next.
