Toshimaen Niwa no Yu Experience Story

First Time in My Life! Getting a Ticket at a Hot Spring

📅December 6, 202522:00
After stimulating my body in the evening at Karma Pool Ikebukuro, I ventured into the city of Tokyo. It was more of a journey to revisit places of memories rather than sightseeing. I visited areas around the house where I used to live and the company where I used to work, reminiscing about those times. How did I spend my days mentally, and what kind of life did I lead? And how much have I grown since then? The comparison is always with my past self. It's my belief that comparing oneself to others brings nothing good in life. For those who gain high motivation and results from comparing themselves to others, that's fine, but for most, it often leads to a loss of motivation. As long as you succeed within yourself, that's enough. Once I finished revisiting my places of memories, an idea came to mind. Should I return to my accommodation at Karma Pool Ikebukuro or visit another sauna facility? I had already been to Karma Pool Ikebukuro this evening and could visit again tomorrow morning. In that case, visiting another facility seemed the best choice for a sauna enthusiast. The destination was Toshimaen Niwa no Yu. It has good access from Ikebukuro and is a well-known facility in Tokyo, which I had seen in various media. I took the Seibu Ikebukuro Line from Ikebukuro Station and arrived at Toshimaen Station. After a short walk from the station, the destination came into view. There seemed to be a crowd near the entrance. I had a bad feeling, but as I pretended not to notice and tried to enter the facility, I was stopped by a staff member asking, "Excuse me, do you have a numbered ticket?" It seemed the staff were organizing entry. I was momentarily taken aback by the need for a numbered ticket, but since I didn't have one, I couldn't enter the facility. After informing the staff that I didn't have one, they handed me a numbered ticket. It had a number on it, and I was told I couldn't enter the facility until called. Being December, it was cold outside, and I felt frustrated at the thought of having to wait in the cold. I considered giving up on using the facility and returning to Karma Pool Ikebukuro, but I had no urgent reason or plans afterward. I am a person with time to spare. So I decided to wait patiently and enjoy myself elegantly once my turn came. In the end, I waited for an hour. Waiting an hour just to get a ticket to enter a bath was a first-time experience for me. Finally, I was able to enter the facility. It wasn't too crowded inside. There was plenty of space in the baths and saunas. I realized that by setting a limit on the number of bathers in advance, they ensured a comfortable experience once inside. It's better than a crowded large bath. After cleansing myself, I soaked in the natural hot spring. The smooth texture of the hot spring gently enveloped my chilled body. This moment washed away everything that had happened before. Although I felt stressed while waiting, once I took a breath in the hot spring, it didn't matter anymore. This is the power of hot springs. After warming my body, I headed to the sauna room. Toshimaen Niwa no Yu has two saunas: a Finnish sauna and a salt sauna. It's a dedicated sauna area, with many plants, perhaps to evoke the image of a Finnish forest. The atmosphere is excellent. In the Finnish sauna, the scent of wood and aroma wafts through, and the lighting is warm and dim. Tree stumps are attached to the walls, giving an artistic feel. The air felt slightly dry, so I thought it might be good to increase the frequency of the auto löyly. I sat cross-legged on the wide seating area, warming my body while reflecting on the day. After the sauna, I went to the cold plunge bath. I submerged myself from head to toe in the deep cold plunge bath, which was around 15°C. The fact that you can dive in is wonderful, and the temperature of the cold plunge bath is perfect. It provides a refreshing sensation as it cools down my heated body from head to toe. The experience is reminiscent of the authentic Finnish style, offering an experience akin to jumping into a lake after leaving the sauna. The relaxation space after the cold plunge bath is also wonderful, allowing you to relax in a space that recreates a Finnish garden surrounded by wood and greenery. The worldviews of the sauna, cold plunge bath, and relaxation space are all unified, and the flow is smooth. The combination of physical comfort and satisfaction with the facility brings a wave of happiness. I couldn't move for a while. At Toshimaen Niwa no Yu, I completed three sets of sauna sessions. I entered the Finnish sauna each time, repeating the cycle of sauna, cold plunge bath, and relaxation with a clear mind. By the time I left the large bath, all distractions and fatigue had been removed. I felt empty. All that was left was to sleep. I returned to my accommodation at Karma Pool Ikebukuro and dove straight into bed.
