A renowned hot spring experience in Arashiyama and Sagano
Sagano Onsen Tenzan-no-Yu is a day-use natural hot spring facility located in Sagano, Ukyo Ward, Kyoto. Its source springs up from 1,200 meters underground in Sagano, near Arashiyama in Kyoto, and is the Kyoto Basin's first sodium-calcium chloride spring, boasting a high chloride ion concentration nine times the therapeutic standard, making it a renowned high-concentration hot spring. In addition to the iron-rich brown waters of the Kinkaku no Yu, the facility features a large Tower löyly Sauna that regularly holds aufguss sessions. It is one of Kyoto's leading bathing facilities.

The source that rises from 1,200 meters under Sagano is high in iron content, producing a characteristic brown color when the water oxidizes on contact with oxygen. It is noted for hematopoietic effects and is recommended for those with anemia. Soaking in this famous spring under the blue Sagano sky offers an exceptional experience not found in other baths.

An outdoor bath made clearer by removing iron from the same source, featuring a clean appearance and a soft feel. On Saturdays, Sundays and public holidays it transforms into a high-concentration carbonated spring, whose carbon dioxide widens capillaries and promotes circulation, making it very popular as the "heart bath".

A large dry sauna with a capacity of about 50 people that uses a heater modeled on a Finnish smoke sauna. The spacious layout and the heat produced by double IKI heaters are overwhelming, and during regular aufguss sessions staff use large hand fans to deliver waves of heat while the daily aroma water fills the room.

The main dry sauna in the women's bathing area. This authentic high-temperature sauna can help improve metabolism and provide a refreshing effect. An aufguss using aroma water is performed every hour with a large hand fan. Equipped with a TV for longer stays, it is designed to be easy to use for everyone from beginners to advanced users.

A low-temperature salt sauna that uses ceramic plates fired with natural radium ore added to the glaze. Far-infrared heat warms the body deeply, and effects similar to a radium bath can be expected. Guests may apply salt as they prefer to experience moist, smooth skin. It is a local custom to rinse the salt off inside the sauna, and two barrels of water for pouring are provided.

A cold plunge bath adjacent to the sauna. It is deep enough to fully immerse the body, making it ideal for cooling down after a high-temperature sauna. Access to the outdoor relaxation area is nearby, allowing for a comfortable hot-and-cold alternating bathing cycle.
