The legendary sauna in Nagoya was fantastic

📅November 23, 202520:00
The second night of my Nagoya sauna trip was approaching. Since I will be heading home tomorrow, tonight is the last night. The destination is already decided. It's the men's only sauna facility "Sauna Eagle" located in Chiryu City, Aichi Prefecture. It's a famous facility where you can enjoy two types of saunas (main sauna and meditation sauna) and three types of cold plunge baths (7°C, 16°C, 30°C). I drove from the hotel and arrived around 20:00. I received the locker key at the reception and headed to the large bath. The main sauna is immediately to the right upon entering, and an aufguss event was taking place. Three staff members were sending heat waves, and the sauna room seemed quite hot. The staff also looked exhausted. Ignoring that scene, I first cleansed myself and slowly soaked in the artificial hot spring, feeling the day come to an end. Such emotions arise. After warming my body for a while, I headed to the main sauna after the aufguss event. The aroma filled the air, and the humidity was high. The thermometer read 85°C, but it felt like 100°C. I thoroughly warmed my body from the core. In the space of the sauna room, unnecessary thoughts disappear. It's so hot that my attention turns to my heartbeat and sweat. I let go of unnecessary distractions and focus on my body's condition. I really like this feeling. There is a cold plunge bath right after exiting the main sauna. It says "It's okay to dive if you wash off your sweat properly." This is very appreciated. By immersing my head in the cold plunge bath, I can cool my entire body evenly. Since the head is also heated in the sauna room, diving in the cold plunge bath increases the refreshing feeling. At this point, it was confirmed to be a divine facility. In Japan, it is often prohibited to dive in bathing facilities. The main reasons are hygiene issues and infection control. However, if the water circulation is active and the water overflows from the cold plunge bath, dirty things are washed away, and a clean state is maintained. At "Sauna Eagle," new water is always supplied, and old water is discharged. The water circulation is very good. I feel that this aspect is well thought out. After exiting the cold plunge bath, I moved to the indoor resting area lined with chairs. There are many chairs. The design intention seems to be to not miss the supreme time after exiting the cold plunge bath. I sat in a chair for a while, dazed. Reflecting on the trip or imagining where to go next. As I indulged in such fantasies, my heart rate returned to normal. It's the signal to start the second set. For the second set, I headed to the meditation sauna. Although the flow line is a bit inconvenient as it's a bit far from the cold plunge bath, I was surprised by the design the moment I entered the sauna room. The sauna room is dark, and even a hot-tempered person would want to meditate there. Also, there were only two special seats prepared. There was a wooden bench shaped like a reclining chair, where you could enjoy the sauna bath while lying down. When I entered the sauna, the special seat happened to be vacant. I lay down there without hesitation. In Japan, it is common to sit in the sauna. Facilities where you can enjoy the sauna while lying down are very precious. Enjoying the sauna while lying down feels really good. At first, a comforting warmth spreads evenly throughout the body, and gradually I feel my pulse quicken. Since the heat hits the entire body evenly, the head doesn't feel excessively hot. I can thoroughly warm my body. The meditation sauna at "Sauna Eagle" is not too hot, with a room temperature of about 70°C. It's designed to allow relaxation and enjoyment of the sauna in moderate heat. The main sauna is intensely hot, while the meditation sauna offers gentle warmth. You can feel the thought put into the space, temperature, and humidity. For the third set, I once again bathed in the intense heat of the main sauna. Then I performed a cold-hot alternating bath from the 7°C cold plunge bath to the 16°C cold plunge bath. For the fourth set, I felt the gentle heat of the meditation sauna again. In this way, I enjoyed a total of four sets, two sets each.
Tonight's dinner was Japanese cuisine. I enjoyed grilled Pacific saury and rolled omelet.

The second day has ended, but strangely, I feel better than when I started. This is always the case with sauna trips. Usually, travel accumulates fatigue. However, a sauna trip rather removes fatigue. You can have the most pleasant experience, and your mental state continues to improve. Each trip brings encounters with new facilities, and each facility offers a different experience. On a sauna trip, you never encounter the same phenomenon. There are still countless facilities I want to visit. My "wish list of facilities to visit" includes nearly 400 facilities. If time and money allow, I feel like I could continue sauna trips forever. To continue this ultimate journey, I will keep striving. With such thoughts, I drove towards the hotel where I was staying.

Silky Cold Plunge Bath

30°C
Tap Water4people

With a water temperature of around 26-30°C, it offers a rare 'floating sensation' due to ultra-fine bubbles. The depth allows natural submersion up to the shoulders, and the temperature setting is gentle enough for extended water bathing. After heating, you can slowly cool your body and enjoy a 'melting-like state of totonou.'

❄️

Single Cold Plunge Bath

5°C
Tap Water4people

With a water temperature of 7°C and a depth of 120 cm, it offers extreme specifications. The temperature difference from the sauna is close to 100°C, sharpening the coldness and quickly drawing you into a state of 'totonou' with the sharp transition from heat to cold.

❄️

Double Cold Plunge Bath

16°C
Tap Water4people

With a water temperature around 16°C, it features a smooth texture thanks to shell powder. By resting your head gently on the edge and soaking while wearing a water robe, you can cool down while maintaining relaxation, transitioning from heat release to a state of totonou.
